The Archbishop Carroll Lions absolutely dismantled Bishop O’Connell in the WCAC playoffs, by a whopping 54 points. They led 24-0 after the first quarter alone, and there was no end in sight after that. The quarterback play for the Lions, from both Tysean Helm and Kelvin Hewitt, was perfect, and the Lions’ running game proved to be too much for the Knights with [player_tooltip player_id="90608" first="Elijah" last="Solomon"] leading the charge. Defensively, [player_tooltip player_id="137054" first="Shon" last="Reid"] dominated for Carroll with nearly ten tackles and a fumble recovery that led to points. The Lions are on the brink of a perfect season, standing at 11-0 now, and they will face St. Mary’s Ryken this weekend on Saturday November 20th. Now, let’s take a closer look at the standout players from Archbishop Carroll’s dominant playoff victory.
ARCHBISHOP CARROLL
2022 6’0 215 LB – [player_tooltip player_id="137054" first="Shon" last="Reid"]
[player_tooltip player_id="137054" first="Shon" last="Reid"] has thrived at the linebacker position all season long and this game was no different. Reid recorded 9 tackles, and, as mentioned previously, he recovered a fumble that was quickly capitalized on by the offense. Reid’s patience is one of the many reasons why he is such a great player. He waits for plays to develop, and the moment he recognizes the development he goes all in on the play. [player_tooltip player_id="137054" first="Shon" last="Reid"] is simply one of the best tacklers in the entire WCAC, and his defensive process must not go unnoticed by scouts. Reid is an elite division one level talent, and he deserves a ton of credit for the dominant season that Archbishop Carroll achieved here in 2021.

2022 6’1 220 LB – Daniel Dennie
Daniel Dennie almost has 50 tackles on the season, and he had 6 solo tackles in this game alone. He delivered a huge hit that caused a fumble, and the ball was then recovered by [player_tooltip player_id="137054" first="Shon" last="Reid"] and the Carroll defense. One word to describe Dennie is consistent. He averages more than 6 tackles a game, including assisted tackles, and his linebacker tandem with [player_tooltip player_id="137054" first="Shon" last="Reid"] is truly a special one-maybe even the best in the WCAC. There’s no doubt that Daniel Dennie, with an undefeated season on the line, will deliver another huge performance for the Lions in a win or go home game for the championship. Dennie is most certainly a top linebacker in the 2022 class.

2022 5’9 160 RB – [player_tooltip player_id="90608" first="Elijah" last="Solomon"]
If you’re looking for a hard working running back that commands the backfield with energy then look no further than [player_tooltip player_id="90608" first="Elijah" last="Solomon"]. Solomon has 10 rushing touchdowns on the year, and he averages more than five yards per carry. Critics say that he is too small, but they are completely wrong, as his speed and agility more than make up for his size. [player_tooltip player_id="90608" first="Elijah" last="Solomon"] is one of the top running backs in the WCAC, and he has been an integral part of Archbishop Carroll’s phenomenal winning streak.
2023 6’6 225 WR – [player_tooltip player_id="90682" first="Nyckoles" last="Harbor"]
There are very few defensive back at this level that can cover [player_tooltip player_id="90682" first="Nyckoles" last="Harbor"]. Harbor caught 3 balls for 53 yards and 2 touchdowns against O’Connell. His touchdown reception was a one on one ball thrown up by Kelvin Hewitt in the end zone, and it was a matchup that he won easily. The fact that Harbor is a Junior is absolutely crazy because he is so good that he could already be playing at the college level. If St. Mary’s Ryken does not double cover [player_tooltip player_id="90682" first="Nyckoles" last="Harbor"] this weekend then the championship game will be over before it even starts, and Carroll will be on their way to achieving a perfect season. Harbor is a top five wide receiver in D.C., and he is going to have a big time Senior season next year.

2024 6’0 160 WR – Kharee Wynn
Kharee Wynn had a breakout performance against Bishop O’Connell, and the numbers speak for themselves. He recorded 2 total touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, and he was also named player of the game. If Kharee Wynn has similar productivity against St. Mary’s Ryken this weekend then it will be very difficult for the Knights to keep up with the Lions. Kharee Wynn is one of the most exciting underclassmen in the WCAC, and he will look to prove it again this weekend in the championship game.
