2023 Quarterbacks to Watch For in 2022

Bakus is a guy that is never afraid to throw the deep ball. Bakus has a strong arm and is capable of putting good touch on the football. I like that Bakus shows good awareness to know when to throw the football high when his taller receiver is matched up on a shorter cornerback. Quarterbacks are always taught to lead receivers and hit them in stride. <strong>Jake Bakus</strong>, does an exceptional job of doing just that. <strong>#9 [player_tooltip player_id="216997" first="Alex" last="Bueno"] </strong>| Rochester Hills | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FzB41">Hudl</a> Bueno is a very accurate thrower of the football. Watching his Junior season highlights, he made several deep throws that were just incredible. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="216997" first="Alex" last="Bueno"] </strong>shows a lot of composure when rolling out of the pocket. He is capable of throwing on the run with ease as well. Bueno is a great athlete who has great speed to take off and run when needed. Rochester finished the year with a winning record at 5-4. Bueno and Rochester will look to build off a solid season and make a playoff run in 2022. <strong>#6 [player_tooltip player_id="30338" first="Christian" last="Johnson"] </strong>| River Rouge | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2GLPLU">Hudl</a> I like that Johnson has a quick, fluid drop back. You can tell that is something that he has put in a lot of time to nearly perfect. Johnson has a great ability to take off and run, and has the ability to break tackles and get extra yardage. Johnson loves to throw the football downfield and is more than capable of completing the deep ball consistently. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30338" first="Christian" last="Johnson"]</strong> helped River Rouge get to the playoffs, finishing with a 7-3 record on the year. <strong>#8 [player_tooltip player_id="30341" first="Cane" last="Mack"] </strong>| Portage Northern | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2GCZ3k">Hudl</a> Mack has a great release when he throws the football. He has the ability to throw the ball on a line and with touch. His release is quick and very fluid. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30341" first="Cane" last="Mack"] </strong>looks comfortable rolling to his right side and his left side. Portage Northern had a tough season in 2021. With Mack returning in 2022, this team will be looking to turn things around. <strong>#9 Matt Lanier </strong>| St. Joseph | <a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2GTLnH">Hudl</a> Lanier helped St. Joseph finish with a 5-4 regular season record. He then led them to a state semi-final game. Lanier is a very tough quarterback who is a great runner. <strong>Matt Lanier</strong> has good arm strength and is capable of making great deep throws. Lanier did such a great job of carring out his fakes and making the defense really have to think about who was getting the football. With Lanier returning, St. Joseph will have their sights set on another playoff run.
