On a night that nailed down playoff positions across the state, here’s a look at players from the Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Laurens areas that came up big for their teams with performances deserving of Prep Redzone game balls.
Chapman already had a region championship in hand, but <strong>Derrick Miller</strong> made an emphatic statement for the Panthers. Miller rushed for a school-record 318 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Broome.
<strong>Andrew Dantin</strong> came up huge for Spartanburg in the Vikings’ comeback victory to take the Region II-5A title over Dorman. Dantin had seven catches for 134 yards, scoring the game-winning TD with 59 seconds left on a 61-yard catch-and-run.
On the other side of the ball, the Vikings’ [player_tooltip player_id="89301" first="Judah" last="McJimpsey"] was a force, notching 15 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and a sack.
In a loss for Woodruff, the Wolverines <strong>Damarian Elmore</strong> was still outstanding. Elmore rushed for 201 yards and a touchdown in Woodruff’s loss to rival Clinton.
Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id="91249" first="Jykorie" last="Gary"] and <strong>Bryson James</strong> were brilliant for the Red Devils. Gary rushed for 134 yards and two scores, while James added 102 yards and a touchdown.
