1. Greenville Christian (9-1)
What an unbelievable regular season for the Saints. Convincing 74-0 victory over Delta Streets Academy last week to round out the regular season. Greenville Christian is poised to run the table.
This week: Open
2. Ocean Springs (8-0)
The 6A classification is wide open at this moment but the Greyhounds might seriously be considered the overall favorite. Smoked St. Martin 48-0 last week.
This week: @ Gulfport
3. West Point (6-2)
Another year = another dominant campaign for Chris Chambless bunch. Don’t let the record fool you, the Green Wave have not dropped a game in which they actually took the field.
This week: vs. Saltillo
4. Madison Central (7-1)
The Jaguar defense shutout a Germantown team with one of the top RB’s in the country last week. The 6A field is crowded but the Jags are well in the race.
This week: vs. Murrah
5. South Panola (7-1)
Much like West Point, the Tigers of South Panola have not dropped a game in which they actually took the field. This is like the Ricky Woods teams of old, built on quality defense.
This week: @ Horn Lake
6. Starkville (8-1)
When rivalry games appear on the schedule you can throw the stats and info out the window and that was proven in the “Little Egg Bowl” vs Oxford last week. The Chargers knocked off Starkville 42-35 last week which was the Yellow Jackets first loss on home turf in ages.
This week: vs. Germantown
7. Oak Grove (6-2)
The Warriors seemed to be clicking on all cylinders before running into a buzzsaw with Brandon last week and losing 24-17.
This week: @ Northwest Rankin
8. West Jones (7-1)
It was not a defensive showcase like the Mustangs had become accustomed to over the last month but the prevailed ultimately over Laurel 24-21 last week. This feels like a team fully in control of 5A South
This week: @ Hattiesburg
9. Neshoba Central (9-0)
A defensive slugfest with Vicksburg last week ended with a Rocket victory 10-6. Are we headed for a West Point – Neshoba Central blockbuster in 5A North?
This week: vs. Callaway
10. Brandon (6-2)
The Bulldogs dropped games in Week 1 and Week 2 against Oxford and Madison Central but have reeled off 6 consecutive victories and gotten progressively better.
This week: @ Northwest Rankin
