On a night that nailed down playoff positions across the state, here’s a look at players from the Greenville, Pickens, and Anderson areas that came up big for their teams with performances deserving of Prep Redzone game balls.
Powdersville wrapped up an undefeated regular season as [player_tooltip player_id="91152" first="Thomas" last="Williams"] ran wild. He led the Patriots’ rushing attack with 20 carries for 239 yards and four TDs as the Patriots thumped Southside to win the Region II-3A crown.
[player_tooltip player_id="153264" first="Trent" last="Pearman"], a Mr. Football finalist and the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year, made sure that Daniel finished the regular season without a blemish. Pearman threw for 306 yards and three touchdowns as the Lions defeated BHP.
Hillcrest notched the upset of the night with a win over T.L. Hanna to clinch the Region I-5A title. The Rams were led by Bennett Judy, who finished 20-of-24 for 316 yards and three TDs, and rushed for another score.
Wren nailed down a No. 2 seed with a shutout victory over Pendleton. [player_tooltip player_id="91218" first="Malachi" last="Hill"] rushed 10 times for 159 and four touchdowns to lead the Hurricanes.
[player_tooltip player_id="91173" first="Peter" last="Zamora"] didn’t have to be perfect for Westside to win a region title. He was anyway. In a short night due to a running clock, Zamora maximized his opportunities, finishing 8-of-8 for 145 yards, including a 57-yard score to [player_tooltip player_id="139296" first="Jimmar" last="Boston"].
