Watauga v. Freedom Defensive Highlights

I was on the sidelines for the conference matchup between the two teams.  The players listed performances were outstanding and caught my attention throughout the game: <strong>Carlton Horine, CB, 6’0" 175, Watauga HS</strong>.  Carlton reacted to the ball and closed quickly on the ball carrier to stop the play.  He displayed good technique and covered a lot of ground quickly in the open.  Carlton Horine was solid in making several open field tackles. <strong>Jackson Lang, LB, 5’11" 160, Watauga HS</strong>.  Jackson displayed good lateral movement while closing in to stop the play.  He runs well in the open field.  Jackson Lang is a very active player who assisted on several tackles throughout the game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="97527" first="Orlando" last="Leon"], LB, 6’2" 190, Watauga HS</strong>.  Orlando was quick out of his stance and displayed good use of his hands to control blockers.  He displayed speed and quickness in the open field closing quickly on the ball carrier to make the stop.  [player_tooltip player_id="97527" first="Orlando" last="Leon"] is a dominant player on the defensive unit who makes a high number of solo tackles. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="144722" first="Isaiah" last="Shirley"], DE, 6’4" 240, Watauga HS</strong>.  Isaiah was quick out of his stance and displayed good use of his hands to control blockers to stop the play.  He displayed good lateral movement and runs well in the open field.  [player_tooltip player_id="144722" first="Isaiah" last="Shirley"] used his quickness and strength to move past blockers and pressure the quarterback and running backs in the backfield.  He made several solo tackles and assisted on several tackles throughout the game. <strong>Grant Lawrence, NG, 6’3" 290, Watauga HS</strong>.  Grant used his hands well and upper body strength to control blockers and stop the play.  He used his size and strength to move past blockers and made it tough to block him.  Grant Lawrence kept constant pressure in the backfield making several solo tackles and assisted on several tackles. <strong>Curt Young, DE, 6’1" 205, Freedom HS</strong>.  Curt closes quickly on ball carrier to stop the play.  He displayed quickness and good technique coming out of his stance.  Curt Young made several solo tackles in the open field and assisted on several tackles. <strong>Demarcus Lowrance, LB, 6’1" 195, Freedom HS</strong>.  Demarcus displayed good lateral movement and closes quickly to stop the ball carrier.  He displayed good technique and speed to move past blockers to stop the play.  Demarcus Lowrance was constantly applying pressure in the backfield and made several solo tackles throughout the game. <strong>Avery Pollard, LB, 5’9" 180, Freedom HS</strong>.  Avery reacted quickly to the ball, closing quickly to stop the play.  He displayed good technique and quickness while making several solo tackles. <strong>Christopher Hensley, DE, 6’4" 210, Freedom HS</strong>.  Christopher displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers to stop the play.  He was a very active player who made several solo tackles throughout the game. <strong>BG Hampton, DL, 5’11" 225, Freedom HS</strong>.  BG displayed good technique and use of hands to control blockers to stop the play.  BG Hampton plays at a high-energy level and made several solo tackles throughout the game.
