Last week featured several huge performances from our in state prospects here in Mississippi. Let’s check out the ones that stood out the most!
Rashard Daniels | Horn Lake | ATH
In a big win over Oak Grove, senior Rashard Daniels was everywhere. On defense, Daniels totaled 9 tackles, 1 forced fumble, and a pass break up, while on offense he rushed for 106 yards. Daniels is a prototypical defensive back who has the size and athleticism to make an impact at the next level. What sticks out most about him is his willingness to come up and make plays against the run. Really like what he has shown on film this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="104438" first="DJ" last="Burgess"] | Lafayette | DL
No surprise here, but defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id="104438" first="DJ" last="Burgess"] continues to thrive this season. This past Friday, the Southern Miss commit totaled11 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss, and a forced fumble. Burgess looks like he will see early playing time for the Golden Eagles when his high school career is over. The Lafayette product has shown great burst off the ball and ability to bend off the edge.
[player_tooltip player_id="112388" first="Eli" last="Anderson"] | Neshoba Central | QB
In a matchup we were looking forward to, [player_tooltip player_id="112388" first="Eli" last="Anderson"] and the Neshoba Central Rockets came out on top. Anderson finished the night passing for 323 yards and 5 TDs, making some tough throws down field. Anderson has shown tremendous growth in his pocket poise and his ability to extend plays with his legs. While he is currently committed to Mississippi Gulf Coast, don’t be surprised if other schools come calling soon.
[player_tooltip player_id="139635" first="Daniel" last="Hill"] | Meridian | ATH
[player_tooltip player_id="139635" first="Daniel" last="Hill"] has shifted his role a bit this season, becoming the primary ball carrier for Meridian. In last week’s big win, Hill rushed for 225 yards and 3 TDs. For a young kid, Hill has shown this season that he is one of the best athletes in his class. His big frame and ball skills mean the sky is the limit for him. Looking for more colleges to get involved soon in his recruitment.
[player_tooltip player_id="119867" first="DK" last="Jenkins"] | Mendenhall | QB
Starting since his freshman season, quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="119867" first="DK" last="Jenkins"] has been one of the state’s most promising young gunslingers. This past week, Jenkins passed for 170 yards and 2 TDs while rushing for 184 yards and a score. Jenkins also plays defense and recorded an interception. This guy can truly do it all and has been a blast to watch this season. Watch for him to end up being one of the best pure football players in Mississippi by his senior year.
Jacob Scott | Mooreville | WR
In Mooreville’s passing attack, wideout Jacob Scott has emerged as the go to guy in this offense. Last Friday, Scott caught a whopping 16 balls for 292 yards and 4 touchdowns. You rarely see these numbers in video games, let alone high school football! Scott has shown impressive speed in the open field and the ability to catch anything thrown in his direction. The senior is in a breakout season and ought to hear from local colleges soon.
Chancellor Greer | Philadelphia | RB
In Philadelphia’s dominant win this past Friday, it was all Chancellor Greer. The junior running back totaled 235 yards and 5 TDs, flashing great burst and quickness on the field. Greer is a guy that has recently popped up onto our radar and has been one of the more impressive junior backs in the state. Looking for him to have another big week this coming Friday.
