Last week featured several huge performances from our in state prospects here in Mississippi. Let’s check out the ones that stood out the most!
John White | Madison Ridgeland Academy | QB
Sophomore quarterback John White has been lighting up scoreboards after settling into this Madison Ridgeland offense. This past week, White finished 28/40 for 521 yards and 5 TDs. White has great poise in the pocket and throws accurately to all levels of the field. This is a guy that can create on his own and throw from a variety of arm angles as well. Really impressed with the rising stud gunslinger so far this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="104155" first="Jamari" last="Thompson"] | Peal | RB
At 6’2" 230, [player_tooltip player_id="104155" first="Jamari" last="Thompson"] is one of the most physically impressive backs in the state. Against Meridian in a big 6A matchup, he rushed for 268 yards and 4 TDs. Thompson has a dominant downhill running style, but has shown improvements in his breakaway speed this season. Expecting more colleges to add interest in the coming weeks.
[player_tooltip player_id="104074" first="Aaron" last="Steele"] | QB | Kemper County
Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="104074" first="Aaron" last="Steele"] has been a big sleeper in this 2022 class. The second year quarterback had a big game in all phases last Friday, passing for 245 yards and 3 TDs, while rushing for 155 yards and a score. Steele is a true dual threat with enough athleticism to play a variety of positions at the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="106167" first="Suntarine" last="Perkins"] | ATH | Raleigh
The do it all national recruit has been blowing up the scene this season. Last week, Perkins finished with 152 yards rushing and 2 scores on offense, while accounting for 3 sacks on the defensive side of the ball. There’s a pretty good chance that this guy is the best overall football player on the field in any game he plays in. With Perkins diverse skillset, look for most of the U.S. to recruit this guy to multiple positions soon.
[player_tooltip player_id="108971" first="Dante" last="Dowdell"] | RB | Picayune
Picayune running back Danta Dowdell woke some folks up this past week, rushing for 263 yards and 4 TDs in a big win over Vancleave. The junior has the size and speed that college coaches love to see. Dowdell is quick in the open field and can shed arm tackles easily. More on the horizon for the rising back soon.
Isiah Boyd | RB | Wayne County
Wayne County running back put on a show against Florence, rushing for 249 yards and 5 TDs. The junior back recently popped onto our radar and has been an awesome surprise. Boyd has great quickness in the open field and can take any carry to the house. Really intriguing prospect that will make our next rankings update.
[player_tooltip player_id="104209" first="Davis" last="Dalton"] | WR | Madison Ridgeland Academy
Breaking his school’s single game receiving record, Dalton caught 14 balls for 388 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Southern Miss commit continues to produce at a ridiculously high level. Looking for this guy to end up leading the entire state in receiving yards by the end of the year. Complete outside receiver with a ton of upside for the next level.
[player_tooltip player_id="119666" first="Jeremiah" last="Ratliff"] | WR | McComb
Ratliff has been another sleeper in Mississippi that has begun to caught the eye of a lot of folks. In McComb’s first win of the season, Ratliff totaled 5 catches for 130 yards and 3 TDs. The senior flashed impressive ball skills and great ability after the catch. Looking for him to have another big week this week against North Pike.
