The talented but banged up Roswell Hornets hosted Etowah and won a tight, defensive battle 15-6. Right down the street, Prep Redzone went to go see Milton, one of the top 7 programs in the state, take on rival Alpharetta. Unlike the other game, this one was filled with points and big offensive plays. Milton would go on to win 55-27 in a fun offensive shootout.
Here are some of the top performers from the day…
Ethan Nation Ethan Nation 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Roswell | 2023 State GA – ATH – Roswell
One of the top 2023 athletes in the state, Nation is an outstanding defensive back who has made a giant impact in both offense and special teams as well. Nation is a smoother runner and a fluid route runner for someone who primarily plays defensive back. He has great hands and has some of the best ball skills in the state. He’s excellent in jump-ball scenarios and has enough speed to take off for a big score with the ball in his hands. He broke up passes as a defender on Friday night and helped lead Roswell’s defense to a big game, giving up only six points. On offense, NAtion scored right before the first half on a quick crossing route. He got open with ease and snatched the ball easily out of the air. He proved why he’s one of the players in the region.
Easy TD for 2023 ATH Ethan Nation (@ethannation5). Fluid runner and smooth athlete. Makes its look easy at times.

Chris Elko – Running Back – Roswell
One of the more versatile player on the team, Elko is a reliable offensive weapon who scored a TD for Roswell on Saturday night during their win over Etowah. The 6-foot-1 185-pounder is a playmaker who can run, catch, and break tackles once he had the ball. He’s a tough runner and found the end-zone on a short run in the 1st quarter to get the scoring going. The Hornets were without starting QB Robbie Roper Robbie Roper 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Roswell | 2022 State GA , so they needed more from their other offensive players, and Elko came up big this weekend. He’s likely to get more and more opportunities to touch the ball and will get more goal-line carries if he continues to run hard between the tackles.
Devin Farrell Devin Farrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Milton | 2022 State GA – QB – Milton
It wasn’t a perfect night for the Virginia Tech commitment, but he still lead the Eagles to 55 points in a big region victory. He threw one early TD to tight end Jack Nickel Jack Nickel 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Milton | 2022 State GA and showed off his legs during the game as well. The dynamic, dual-threat QB didn’t throw for a lot of yards, but his ability to take off and run is always dangerous. Farrell zig-zagged his way to a long TD run in the second half to help secure the victory. He was accurate when throwing the ball short and underneath, but when he took off, that’s where he really shined. He showed a second gear with his legs and the ability to lead the Milton offense deep into the 7A playoffs this year.

Lebbeus Overton Lebbeus Overton 6'4" | 245 lbs | DL Milton | 2022 GA – Defensive End – Milton
It’s always fun watching elite defensive lineman LT Overton play ball. One of the nation’s top 2023 prospects, Overton is an elite pass-rusher off the edge and got after the passer with ease again on Friday Night. The 6-foot-4 260-pound EDGE defender is so quick and explosive off the edge and already looks like a Power 5 defender from a physical standpoint. He was being double-teamed a lot of the night, and he went up against a physically imposing Alpharetta tackle, but Overton still found a way to make plays. He crashed down and made big tackles around the line of scrimmage and got to the QB for a big 2nd-half sack. It was easy to see his talent and ability to dominate in the big win.
Big 3rd-down sack for elite 2023 DL LT Overton (@LebbeusO) out of Milton.

Jordan McDonald Jordan McDonald 6'1" | 215 lbs | RB Milton | 2022 State GA – Running Back – Milton
The Eagles didn’t have to throw the ball much on Friday night, and a big reason why is because of their talented back. A big, tackle-breaking back at 6-foot-1 220-pounds, McDonald bowled over the Alpharetta defense with ease and used his size and power to his advantage. He’s always been a strong, powerful runner and was tough to bring down all night. McDonald only carried the ball 10 times but he went for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the big win. He was too much to handle and has been one of the top backs in all of North Georgia so far this season. He’s down to South Carolina and UCF in his recruitment.
