Many teams are fighting for a spot, while some are just trying to hold onto theirs. Check out where our eyes will be in this week's exciting slate of games! Germantown vs Grenada Coming off a loss to Oxford, Germantown will look to bounce back this week against a Grenada team enters 5-2 on the season. This matchup will feature two of the state’s best running backs. Germantown’s Georgia commit will face off against Grenada’s who has been on an absolute roll lately. Both teams are sound upfront and feature tough run defenses, meaning that this ought to be a low scoring game. Look for both teams to flex their rushing attacks and throw the ball very few times. Big time 6A district matchup. Louisville vs West Lauderdale Outside of a narrow loss to Starkville, Louisville has showed that they are on a mission to get back to the state title game they were in last season. West Lauderdale has surprised some folks around Mississippi and enters this matchup 6-1. In this 4A district matchup, these teams are evenly matched and will look to show why they are the true contender for the 4A title. West Lauderdale’s defensive line has given teams trouble this season, and Louisville will have to game plan accordingly. Fortunately for Louisville, big time wide out is more than capable of taking the top off a defense. Vancleave vs Gautier Vancleave’s rushing attack led by senior running back will face Gautier’s red hot passing attack led by quarterback . Bilbo is on pace to shatter a 2000 yard rushing season, while Irving is on pace over 3000 passing yards. These two players have been game breakers in their previous games this season and will take the field against each other this week. Vancleave has showed some struggle against the pass, but Gautier has had difficulty against the run. If you like offense, this is the game for you. Big time 5A district game that will draw a ton of attention. West Point vs Lake Cormorant Although West Point went on a slow start due to COVID, this is still the same West Point that has always existed. Running back has been an x factor player, but West Point has also shown the ability to distribute the ball to several other playmakers this season. Lake Cormorant, led by quarterback , has averaged around 30 points a game in their 3 district games this season. As Lake Cormorant tries to make the playoffs, this is a must win game for the Gators. Tupelo vs Madison Central Although Tupelo has been on a two game slide, this is still a very good football team. Madison Central enters with one loss on the season and has been rolling since. Quarterback has looked as promised and the overall talent on this Madison Central offense is astounding. Tupelo enters with a very stout defense, featuring Ole Miss defensive line commit Jacarious Clayton among others. If Tupelo can score on offense, this can be a game that comes down to the wire. Lot of playoff implications in this game. Jackson Prep vs Jackson Academy This rivalry is one of the oldest and most exciting in Mississippi. Jackson Prep enters the game 5-3 on the season while Jackson Academy enters 5-3. Both teams have shown the ability to run the football well, especially at Jackson Academy. Quarterback Tate Collins and running back have been a tough duo to stop. Throw in athlete and Jackson Academy seems to have answers everywhere. Jackson Prep has been outstanding on defense, allowing an average of 13 points in their wins this season. This game could go either way. You just never know with rivalries!
