Stock Risers Through WK 8, PCL Blue

The regular season in the Philadelphia Catholic League is drawing close to an end. I wanted to catch those up on who has been performing well to close out the year. This piece will cover the Red division and highlight multiple athletes from each team. Everyone deserves love. We will shine light on whoever earns it, regardless of stars, offers, and class.

Neumann-Goretti

| 5’9, 174 | RB | 2023 Brett Kwoka | 6’2, 240 | DL/OL | 2022 Sam Hobbs | 6’1, 205 | LB/ATH | 2023 N&G has been splitting carries between two talented Jayden’s in the backfield. Sumpter and Styles have both been productive as a tandem for the Saints. Each prospect has scored three times in the last three games. The bulk of the NG scoring output has come out of these two. Sumpter, 25 att, 230+ yards. Styles, 20 att, 160+ yards. Brett Kwoka was a name I came across early in the year, he hasn’t disappointed thus far. Second on the tackle leader board behind stud with 31 totals. Tied for the team lead with 2 sacks on the year. Also the leader in TFL’s with 7 for 43 yards lost. Impressed! Sam Hobbs and Xavier Gaban are also impressing on film. These two haven’t necessarily stood out statistically, but both players are helping this NG defense give up just 27 points in three weeks.

Bonner-Prendie

| 5’10, 205 | RB/ATH | 2022 Dave Washington | 6’1, 190 | ATH | 2022 | 5’11, 160 | DB | 2023 has been on an absolute TEAR through the PCL Blue. I don’t really need to get into his game, as I have in the past on numerous occasions. I’ll just leave his last three lines below. 26 att, 137 yards, 1 TD against NG 21 att, 163 yards, 3 TDs against ABC 23 att, 192 yards, 3 TDs against Lansdale Monster numbers. How about some love for Dave Washington, I’ve been keeping up with his game as ranking updates draw near. He’s blocked a punt this year, recorded a whopping 17 TFL’s on the year for 68 yards lost. He leads the team with 6 sacks on the year as well as leading Bonner in overall tackles with 39 total. This kid can also catch the ball on offense. Impressed! continues to dazzle in coverage week in and week out. He’s proving our ranking to be legit. We’ll see if he rises.

Archbishop Ryan

Joe Mastrangelo | 5’10, 170 | ATH | 2022 Rob McConnell | 6’2, 215 | QB/ATH | 2022 I’ve heard Joe Mastrangelo’s name dating back all the way to this past spring. I finally got a hold of some film and a Twitter. Joe has been crucial in helping the Raiders win four straight. His game has been felt on both sides of the ball. The kid is everywhere! 21 totals, 4 interceptions on the year, one for a touchdown. 7 passes defensed. 8 catches 280+ yards, 4 TD’s in four games at wideout. He’s been irreplaceable as of late. Rob McConnell is starting to be a name featured on this site pretty frequently. He put up his largest rushing output this past weekend (13 att,56 yards). Where he really contributes is through the air. 9 passing touchdowns through the last four games. Three out of those four games, McConnell threw for 160 yards or more. He’s over 1100+ yards passing on the year. Stud!

Conwell-Egan

| 6’0, 200 | QB/ATH | 2022 | 6’3, 220 | LB/FB | 2023 These two have garnered a ton of attention out of PRZPA. More is always needed and appreciated! Let’s wrap up these two prospects’ seasons thus far. : 81 att, 799 yards, 12 TDs, 16/35 303 yards, 5 TDs (passing). : 29 att, 172 yards rushing, 4 TDs. 29 solos, 14 assists, 43 total tackles. 1 and a half sacks, 5 TFL’s for 30 yards lost. 3 PBU’s.

Cardinal O’Hara

Frank DiDio | 5’11, 175 | ATH | 2022 Mark Zecca | 5’10, 205 | ATH | 2022 A ton of new names here on out. Here are two out of COH. Frank Didio is statistically all over the field. The Lions love this kid’s effort. I would love to have more film out of this kid to see where his game translates. He’s been a productive DB, breaking up 4 passes on the year and picking off two, one for a touchdown. DiDio is the Lions’ leading pass catcher, pretty much accounting for more than half of the team’s overall production. 16 catches for 272 yards and three scores. Mark Zecca leads the Lions in total tackles and TFL’s. I haven’t been able to dig up any film on the kid but I can tell from the stat sheets that he’s a leader on the defense. 33 totals, 6 TFL’s for 24 yards lost.

West Catholic Prep

Isiah Franklin | DT | 5’8 | DB/ATH | 2022 I have talked up ’s game any time West Catholic is brought up, as well as and . How about some love to Isiah Franklin, an interior defender who I liked when attending in person. I couldn’t find a name or film, but believe this is the massive defensive tackle who ate up blocks. He leads the Burrs with 7 TFL’s on the year. By the way, here’s how valuable has been for WC. Leading tackler at 22 totals. Tied for team-high in INT’s (2). Tied for second in scoring (12) Leading receiver with 14 catches and 203 yards. Second in rushing with 46 attempts for 224 yards.

Archbishop Carroll

| 5’7, 155 | RB/DB | 2022 Anthony Spurio | 6’1, 220 | TE/LB | 2023 You can’t speak about Archbishop Carroll without speaking on . I bring him up whenever speaking on the team. He’s the best Patriot player on the field. Some other statistical standouts are Anthony Spurio, who is second on the team in total tackles with 47, a good number. He’s accounted for 5 TFL’s as well. Deveyon Fitzgerald has impressed in pass coverage, coming up with 2 interceptions. Jesse Vente is another name, he leads the team in scoring with 4 touchdowns scored on the year, three of which were touchdown receptions. He’s caught 21 balls for 236 yards along with those three TD’s. Would love to learn more.

Lansdale Catholic

Danny Herman | ATH Jake Lesher | RB/CB | 2022 Last but not least is Lansdale Catholic. Lansdale’s fall season has been a rough one to say the least. That doesn’t mean players aren’t doing their best to make plays. Lesher and Herman are too of them. Lesher is the team’s leading weapon, leading the Crusaders in receiving and rushing (142, 69). Not jarring numbers, still the production is noticed. Danny Herman is putting up some big tackle numbers this Fall! 48 solos, 17 assists, 65 total tackles. 7 TFL’s and a blocked extra point! Send that film in!
