From Blue Ridge to Valdosta, Atlanta to Savannah, and all in-between, it’s safe to say the state is full of emerging, young talent. Kids are playing earlier and earlier these days, and plenty of sophomores have stepped up and had a big 2021 season so far.
Here are a few 2024 prospects who are starting to see their recruitment take off…
Zion Ragins Zion Ragins 5'11" | 165 lbs | WR Jones County | 2024 State GA – ATH – Jones County
One of the the fastest prospects in the state, the young freshman from Middle Georgia is an absolute stud on the football field and an explosive playmaker at wide receiver. The track star claims a 4.31 40-yard dash and is coming off a state championship performance in the GHSA track and field meet earlier this summer. Ragins won the 5A state championship in both the 100 and 200 meter dash. He might be one of the fastest players in the state, but he’s more than that. Ragins is a football player who makes an impact with more than his speed. Ragins has great hands, can change directions with ease, and shows great body control when going for the football. The playmaker already holds major offers, but picked up another major one this week from Oklahoma. Georgia Tech and West Virginia have also recently offered.

Landen Thomas Landen Thomas 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Colquitt County | 2024 State GA – TE – Colquitt County
One of the top 2024 playmakers in the state, sophomore tight end Landen Thomas Landen Thomas 6'4" | 210 lbs | TE Colquitt County | 2024 State GA is one of the top tight end prospects in the state with a great frame and athleticism. At 6-foot-4 210-pounds, Thomas is a mismatch problem for defenses. He’s a big-bodies pass catcher who is only scratching the surface of his potential. One of the hottest prospects in the state, Thomas is a big-play machine who has helped lead the Packers to a 5-1 start. He’s caught only 13 passes so far, but they’ve gone for 240 yards and five touchdowns so far this season. He’s also an impact blocker on the edge and will continue to add more weight and muscle over the next few years, helping him build more strength to go along with his ability to catch passes. The FSU commit has recently earned offers from Georgia, South Carolina and Arkansas.

Caleb Holmes Caleb Holmes 6'3" | 285 lbs | OL Creekside | 2024 State GA – OL – Creekside
One of the top young offensive line prospects in the state, the Creekside (GA) sophomore made a big impact as a freshman last year and is playing extremely well so far this year. A big, physical interior offensive lineman, Holmes stands at 6-foot-3 285-pounds and has been bowling over defensive linemen all fall. He plays with a solid base and does a nice job of using leverage to get underneath the defenders pads. He’s a true road-grader in the run game and is only going to get strong over the next few years. His recruitment is starting to take off and he picked up a recent offer from Pittsburgh. Look for more to come his way soon.
I'm am beyond blessed and truly honored to receive an offer from The Universityof Pittsburgh. (@Pitt_FB) I want to thank God 1st and all who've helped. #AGTG #H2P

Jonathan Echols – DE – Heard County
One of the hottest 2024 prospects in Georgia, Echols is in the middle of a breakout season and his recruitment is taking off. The big do-it-all athlete stands at 6-foot-5 225-pounds and already shows signs of an elite pass rusher. He can already use his size and raw strength to dominate veteran offensive lineman, but his quickness and explosiveness off the ball is what makes him one of the top young 2024 defenders in the state. He’s lightning fast off the edge and has a great motor to get after the quarterback. He’s technically sound for his age and has the natural instincts to use his hands to get off blocks. He still needs time to develop, but he has all the raw tools that college staffs look for. He’s already one of the best players on the field at any given time, and he’s only a sophomore. Echols has earned recent offers from Pitt and LSU.
