Jeremiah Claiborne, Citrus Valley, 2023
Citrus Valley had a blowout win over Yucaipa who has a star running back of its own. The Blackhawks ran for 347 yards on just 26 attempts. Claiborne had 253 yards on 15 carries with three touchdowns in the win. He’s a big back at 6-foot-1 and over 180-pounds. The yardage was a career-high and the touchdowns match a career-high he set against Orange Vista earlier in the season.

Jonathan Guerrero, Rio Hondo Prep, 2022
Guerrero is on the Southern Section leaderboard every week for his rushing performances and has been putting up huge numbers all season. In a win against Brentwood last week, the senior ran for 206 yards on 21 carries with four touchdowns. He’s rushed for 1089 yards this season with 18 touchdowns and an average of 12 yards per carry.

Brandon Johnson, Highland, 2023
It is not very often that an individual player accounts for 81 percent of a team’s offense in a winning effort. Especially when that player is not a quarterback. Johnson did just that for Highland in a 20-14 win over Palmdale. The junior ran for 244 yards on 29 carries with two touchdowns. He is averaging 9 yards per carry for the season but the 244 yards are nearly double his previous career-high.

Kyle Krause, Canyon, 2023
Canyon has been known to have a high-powered passing offense this season but the running game also came up huge in an upset win over Brea Olinda. The junior running back ran for 190 yards and two touchdowns for Canyon in the team’s North Hills League opener. He had an impressive 95 yard run which helped his stats out, but he was able to milk clock at the end of the game to maintain Canyon’s lead. Canyon has a real chance to win the North Hills League.

[player_tooltip player_id="141906" first="Lucky" last="Sutton"], Cathedral Catholic, 2022
Cathedral Catholic has a very capable quarterback but the running game has been carrying the Dons all season. Sutton is one of the best running backs in Southern California. He had a big game against St. Augustine last week, rushing for 272 yards on only 12 carries with four touchdowns. He has rushed for over 1,000 yards this season and has 17 touchdowns. Sutton has five offers and recently took an official visit to San Jose State.
