It’s Week 8 in the Garden State with only two weeks remaining in the regular season. This week will determine seeds and rankings and many teams will look to strengthen their playbooks. Don’t be surprised if you see a few upsets this week.

<span style="font-size: 24pt;"><strong>Delsea (7-0) at Mainland (4-3) </strong></span>
<em>When: Friday at 6pm</em>
Delsea is no stranger to the post season. They are a well coached football team who barely makes mistakes. Delsea’s rushing attack has been nearly unstoppable this year. They are averaging over 40 points a game and they barely throw the ball. Delsea features two main backs on their offense. <em>Senior RB Luke Maxwell (Delsea)</em> has a total of 8 touchdowns this season who is their primary back. Also, <em>Senior RB Jaedyn Stewart (Delsea) </em>is another featured back in their offense. He has 5 touchdowns and averaging six yards a carry. On the defensive side, Delsea has a stout defense only allowing 14 points a game which is the fewest by any team in South Jersey. Mainland will have their work cut out for them and hope to spoil Delsea’s chances in getting a top spot in the playoff rankings. This game could go either way and depends on who makes the fewest mistakes.
<span style="font-size: 24pt;"><strong>Northern Burlington (5-2) at Ewing (5-2) </strong></span>
<em>When: Friday at 7pm</em>
These two teams are evenly matched and the winner will be crowned the Valley title. Both teams are on a 4 game winning streak after starting the season 1-2. Ewing has an advantage in this matchup because they are 4-0 on their home turf. Ewing has some game changers on both sides of the ball. Offensively, they are led by <em>Senior QB Tariq McKinney (Ewing)</em> who has been solid under center this year. He is a dual threat quarterback who is currently 65 for 119, 1,554 yards and 15 TDs. His main target is<em> Senior WR [player_tooltip player_id="207533" first="Tyreek" last="Rollins"] (Ewing)</em> who has 682 yards and 11 TDs. On the other hand, Northern Burlington has an advantage in the run game and will look to capitalize on Ewing’s weak defensive line. Northern Burlington will look to feed S<em>enior RB Keith Tillet (Northern Burlington) </em>who has 793 yards and 13 TDs. Even though, Ewing has a high-powered offense they will need to slow down Northern Burlington’s ground attack. Both teams are very good and this should be an interesting game.
<span style="font-size: 24pt;"><strong>(No.2) St. Augustine (6-1) at Shawnee (4-2) </strong></span>
<em>When: Friday at 7pm</em>
St. Augustine is one of the top teams in the entire state. They are playing with an extremely big chip on their shoulder. St. Augustine will be taking on one of the top offenses in New Jersey. Shawnee features a loaded offense led by <em>Senior QB Matt Wesley (Shawnee)</em> who had an impressive high school career. He is currently 80-124, 1,293 yards 10TDs and 2 INT this season. His numbers are impressive and he will look to add to that this Friday. In regards to St. Augustine, their defense has only allowed 17 points all season. Their defense will need to come to play to in order to come away with this win. This will not be an easy task for St. Augustine. Expect this game to high intensity.
<span style="font-size: 18pt;"><strong>Washington Township (6-1) at St. Joseph (Hamm.) (6-2)</strong></span>
<em>When: Saturday at 1pm</em>
Washington Township can solidify themselves as the best public school in South Jersey if they can come out with a win. Both teams have a good defense but Washington Township has the advantage because of their ground attack. Stopping the run for St. Joseph (Hamm.) has been their weakness this season. They will need to crowd the line of scrimmage to prevent break out runs from Washington Township. They are led <em>Senior RB Jo’Nathan Silver (Washington Township) </em>who is their leading producer on offense. He currently has 547 yards and 6 TDs and he will need to have a big game Friday night. On the other hand, St. Joseph (Hamm.) has no problem scoring points. Under center they have <em>Senior QB Ja’son Prevard (St.Joseph) </em>who is efficient with the football. He is currently 63 for 117, 1,334 yards 16 TDs and 6 INTs this season. This matchup will most likely be low scoring.
<strong><span style="font-size: 24pt;">Camden (4-3) at Cedar Creek (8-0)</span></strong>
<em>When: Saturday at 12pm</em>
Cedar Creek will look to keep their undefeated streak alive before heading into the postseason. Cedar Creeks top performer <em>Senior WR [player_tooltip player_id="27993" first="JoJo" last="Bermudez"] (Cedar Creek)</em> is the states leader in receiving yards. He is a deep threat who is nearly unstoppable. On the other hand, Camden has been eliminated as a playoff contender to due to the league’s mandate due to personal reasons. Camden will look to end their season on high note and beating Cedar Creek end their season on a positive note. This should be an interesting match up since Camden will be filled with emotion after the news they have received.
