Jones survived a scare from Chandler on Friday night as they continued district play. You can read the complete game recap RIGHT HERE. Here’s a more in-depth breakdown on the standouts from Jones following their close win over the Lions in week five.
Carson May Carson May 6'5" | QB Jones | 2022 State OK SR-QB- 6’6” 220lbs
Carson May Carson May 6'5" | QB Jones | 2022 State OK was once again the biggest and best talent on the field Friday night. In the first half he threw TDs from 22, 32, and 29 yards out. In the last 3 games May is 45/65 (70%), with 800+ yards, and 14 TDs. May is easily the top QB in the state and continues to validate the #1 ranking in the Oklahoma Prep Redzone QB rankings. The Iowa commit was not only dicing up Chandler through the air, but was also able to keep drives alive with his feet as well. The 6’6” 220lb frame is a lot more mobile than you would think and easily the biggest most athletic signal caller the state has seen in some time. May has helped do a lot of the heavy lifting in turning around the Longhorns season. Since dropping two tough early season matchups May has upped his play and shredded defenses while giving the Longhorns a 2-0 record in district play. Watching May continue to improve and help this Jones team make what looks to be an impressive run the rest of the season.
Cadyn Karl Cadyn Karl 6'2" | WR Jones | 2022 OK SR- WR- 6’1” 180lbs
Karl has been the top target for May this season and that didn’t change Friday night. Karl hauled in multiple TD catches, including the finial one of the night that would prove to be the deciding factor in the game. As a Kansas State baseball commit Cadyn has plenty of athleticism and talent to high point passes as well as contribute in the rushing attack. In the first half the Jones staff found plenty of ways to incorporate Karl in the offense and used him in a creative array of screens, pitches, and fades that freed him up to move down the field. Karl averaged 14 yards a catch and 4.4 yards per carry against Chandler. Look for Karl to continue and be the top target for May and the Longhorn offense.

Emmitt Murphy SR- WR 6’0” 170lbs
Emmitt Murphy was the other part of the receiving tandem that helped May have another strong night. With nine catches and 84-yards (9.3 YPC) as well as a TD in the first quarter that helped open the game up for the Longhorns. Murphy has played really well and been a nice option to force the defense to respect the entire field and not focus on May to Karl. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Murphy come up big for the Longhorns down the stretch and even be the hero for a game or two a district play continues.
Another TD pass from Carson May (@CarsonMay_3). This time a 32 yard dime to Emmitt Murphey. Longhorns lead Chandler 14-0 with 7:26 left in Q2. @PrepRedzoneOK pic.twitter.com/7uR4P3nu7P

Other Notable Performers-
Luke Huckaby WR- 2 catches, 38 yards, 1 TD
Braydon Scott DB- 1 INT
Dakotah Calvert RB- 4 car, 26 yards, 6.5 YPC
The Jones offense was very good Friday night, however multiple Longhorns had a great game defensively. The Longhorns had a bend dont break for most of the night, pitching a shutout in the first half and only surrendering points on a few big plays in the second half. If the offense and defense can sustain their performance for 4 quarters in the upcoming games, they should be able to move through the rest of district unscathed and secure home games to begin the playoff march.
