Declan Byle Declan Byle 6'2" | 170 lbs | QB Catholic Central | 2022 State MI , a Senior at Catholic Central, is more of a throw first player but is steady in the pocket and can make quick decisions. De La Salle’s junior quarterback, Brady Drogosh Brady Drogosh 6'5" | 205 lbs | QB De La Salle | 2023 State MI , is a steady dose of both the run and pass, although De La Salle did choose to run him a fair amount on Friday night. Byle has some solid ability at the line of scrimmage to be a leader and get the offense set, a trait he shares with his opposing quarterback, Drogosh.
At halftime, DLS led the game 10-7 in a defensive effort that saw both offenses struggled. After a tough pass interference call on Catholic Central, De La Salle scored with just seconds remaining in the first half. That put the Pilots up 9-7 and eventually 10-7 after the PAT. Besides that action, it was a physical but quiet first half filled with penalties and defense.
CC drove the ball down the field early in the fourth quarter, but their field goal attempt was eventually blocked by the Pilots, which kept the score at 10-7. The Pilots would eventually score, and De La Salle hung on for the 17-7 win in the Catholic League Central Division title clinching. De La Salle has also clinched an appearance in the Prep Bowl game at Ford Field later this month.

Catholic Central (4-2, 3-1) will take on Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. De La Salle (5-0, 3-0) will travel to Detroit to take on U of D next Friday.
Here are the standout players from Friday nights Catholic League matchup.
Will Beesley

A standout moment of the game was an all-out blitz on 2nd and eight where Beesley got a free shot on Byle while throwing a pass. He showcased his forceful hitting ability throughout the game. Beesley has a massive motor on the field and can always lay a big hit on an offensive ball carrier. Another critical play was an interception that Beesley helped create by forcing pressure on Byle in the third quarter. He is a dominant pass rusher as well as pass defender for the Pilots. The senior is committed to play football at Princeton next season.
Declan Byle

The CC offense’s leader, Byle, is not afraid to fit the ball into a tight window. In last week’s game, he threw multiple touchdowns in Catholic Central’s rout of Brother Rice in the Boys Bowl. He plays smart and reads defenses well. He can move well in the pocket, keeping his feet under him and not losing balance. He was a crucial part of the Shamrocks’ lone scoring drive in the first half, commanding the offense down the field for an eventual goal-line run-in. Byle currently has an offer from Yale that shows his smarts on and off the field. He will indeed receive more interest in the recruiting trail, as he is currently ranked as the 44th best player in the 2022 class on Prep Redzone Michigan’s rankings.
Mohamed Jaffer

5'9" | 185 lbs | RB
Catholic Central | 2022
MI
Jaffer was a key part of CC’s win over Brother Rice last week. He plays at safety and running back, which showcases his dominant athleticism and competitive ability. CC has always been about physical, in your face football, and Jaffer fits that mold for the Shamrocks.
Brady Drogosh

De La Salle started the game relying heavily on Drogosh running the ball. He can get low and use his strong lower body to fall forward. Drogosh has some solid ability at the line of scrimmage to be a leader and get the offense set, a trait he shares with his opposing quarterback, Byle. The Pilots quarterback was a big part of the first half for his team, rushing the football physically, but ended up scoring via pass as he found his teammate, Triston Nichols, for a score.
