Below, we will review some players that had very impressive Week 7 performances on the defensive side of the ball across Northern California. As the season is coming to a close in the next few weeks, it is apparent that there are some very good 2023 and 2024 players across the region that will emerge into stars over the next couple of years, along with some 2022’s proving that they can stay consistent and have been dominant in their respective senior seasons.

SS Teeg Slone, Rocklin HS
The 2022 prospect is a top defender on one of the best defenses across the entire region and is one of the best safeties Norcal has to offer. Playing in space from his SS position, Slone has natural instincts and outstanding ball skills while able to jump routes and attack the ball in the air. On tape, he shows terrific closing speed and sets the edge well by using his length, trigger ability and strong tackling in traffic to play tough in the box when needed. Understanding coverage responsibilities and baiting quarterbacks into bad throws along with his versatility in the back end make him a very intriguing prospect.
ILB Rio Patton, Rocklin HS
Patton is a very active inside linebacker that plays with a high motor and is consistently all over the field making plays sideline to sideline. Doing a good job at locking his eyes on his reads and triggering quickly while able to close backside, he is a very strong tackler and takes good angles in the open field while able to navigate through traffic and fill in tight windows.
OLB Tate Asborno, California HS
Asborno is a physical and lengthy outside linebacker and has the tools to play at the next level and plays with a high motor and good toughness. Seemingly very fluid in space with a natural peddle and break to runners, he brings a good thump upon contact and explodes through ball carriers while taking good angles in the open field. Having a quick play diagnosis, he closes quickly and covers ground in a hurry while also effective on special teams and makes plays sideline to sideline.
