North Shore Mustangs Defensive Standouts (Week 10)

<p class="p1"><span style="font-size: 1rem; -webkit-text-size-adjust: 100%;">Friday Night Lights is almost coming to an end. For week 10 I decided to go visit two powerhouse high school football teams. Ranked #3 in Houston Atascocita Eagles (7-2) vs #4 in Houston North Shore Mustangs (9-1). I have seen both these two teams play before and have been following their progress throughout the whole season. Coming into this game I thought both teams were evenly matched it was hard to say who would win this game. When the game started my assessment was correct neither team could score nor completely stop the other. Both teams were tied at half. However, after the half North Shore Mustangs scored on the 1st play of the 3rd quarter giving them the momentum for the rest of the game. The final score was 31-21 with The North Shore Mustangs coming out victorious. The North Shore Mustangs had a lot of standouts on both sides of the ball it was hard to decisive the standouts for defense.</span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#2 Caleb Flagg CB Sr </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">No one was getting pass Caleb Flagg. Caleb Flagg provided great coverage not leaving too much separation between him and his man. If a ball was caught however, Caleb sure made the receiver regret it by delivering a hard hit. Caleb is a very dedicated and persistent defensive back. Caleb is a college prospect having two universities offers from Angelo State University and Houston Baptist University. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#5 [player_tooltip player_id="136182" first="Jacoby" last="Davis"] DB Jr</span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">There is a lot I can say about [player_tooltip player_id="136182" first="Jacoby" last="Davis"], but one thing for sure is he’s an athlete. Jacoby was always on his man he didn’t allow any passes to come through. Jacoby even blocked a pass that would of been a touchdown very early on in the 1st quarter. I’m not the only that noticed Jacoby’s potential he has a lot of university offers as a top prospect. Jacoby has offers from; Auburn University, University of Michigan, Mississippi State University, Baylor University, Texas A&amp;M to name a few. Jacoby is still only in his Junior year I’m looking forward to seeing him in playoffs. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#23 Evan Jackson FS, SS Jr 5’11 165 lbs</span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">Evan Jackson is an aggressive safety. Evan plays both free safety and strong safety. If Evan saw an opportunity he wasn’t letting it escape him. Evan always pursued the ball and made the tackle. Evan also had great tackling form best utilizing his power. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#55 [player_tooltip player_id="60470" first="Ronald" last="Wilson"] DT Sr </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">[player_tooltip player_id="60470" first="Ronald" last="Wilson"] is quick and strong defensive tackle. Ronald was an unstoppable threat easily swim moving pass Atascocita’s offensive line. Ronald was always in the back field Atascocita could barely run the ball because of him. Ronald was even able to get a sack. </span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">#4 Tavon Griffin FS Sr</span></p> <p class="p3"><span class="s2">Tavon Griffin plays free safety, but I always saw him in the action. Tavon didn’t wait for the play to come to him he went after it. Last time I saw Tavon during week 1 I noticed he was a great player, but he didn’t got a lot of chances to shine. However, this game Tavon showed out personally putting a stop to a lot of Atascocita Eagles plays. </span></p>
