The Wide Receiver group is next up in our breakdown of the 2021 MAC MS All-Star team that will compete later on in December against the All-Star’s from the state of Alabama. These are names you should be familiar with as they have represented the position extremely well so far this season.
<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jarnorris-hopson/">[player_tooltip player_id="104206" first="Jarnorris" last="Hopson"]</a> | Horn Lake
Hopson can challenge anyone in the state when it comes to pure, smooth athleticism. Hopson has been active in all three phases of the Horn Lake offense as a passer, runner and receiver. Potential to be sneaky good route runner and become a mismatch in the slot has caught the eye of college coaches. Mississippi State and Mike Leach secured Hopson’s commitment early in the process and appear to have the perfect fit for him in their air raid approach.
<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/larry-simmons/">[player_tooltip player_id="104205" first="Larry" last="Simmons"]</a> | Moss Point
For well over a year now, Simmons has been our top ranked playmaker at wideout. Prototypical size to play at virtually any WR position make the Moss Point star an attractive recruit. Simmons has had elite production throughout his high school career which now totals 2345 receiving yards and 24 TD’s. Not a burner but winnable speed with good technical body control. Potential to win in one on ones down field. Ole Miss pledge looks to be the next in a long line of physical Rebel WR’s to have dynamic careers.
<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jerry-johnson/">[player_tooltip player_id="104546" first="Jerry" last="Johnson"]</a> | Pearl
The Pearl SR has long been a playmaker for the Pirates but has transitioned in 2021 to more of a defacto QB. 29-68 passing for 760 yards, 8TD and 1 INT so far on the season in addition to 545 rushing yards and 7 TD’s. Some guys are just simply ballplayers and Johnson fits that mold. Doesn’t wow with his size, which is probably his most limiting factor, but simply gets the job done on gameday. Grossly undervalued for the time being and should see his recruitment heat up down the stretch.
<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jeremiah-dillon/">[player_tooltip player_id="104207" first="Jeremiah" last="Dillon"]</a> | Tylertown
Boundary receiver length is present in his 6"3 frame with room to fill it out as he continues to mature. Dillon’s recruitment really heated up over the course of the summer ultimately seeing him pledge to play at Ole Miss upon graduation. Outside receiver size is obvious but Dillon mostly makes his mark with his legs, clocked in the 100m as fast as 10.53 seconds. Elite combination potential of size and speed make him a guy to keep an eye on throughout the remainder of the year.
<a href="https://prepredzone.com/player/jordan-anthony-2/">[player_tooltip player_id="139770" first="Jordan" last="Anthony"]</a> | Tylertown
Anthony combines with [player_tooltip player_id="104207" first="Jeremiah" last="Dillon"] to form an elite offense at Tylertown. Another track star, much like his teammate, Anthony is viewed as a game breaker that can easily take the top off the defense with his legs. Typical slot WR frame with wiggle off the ball and good football IQ. Potential to play either the DB or WR position but projects best to the offensive side of the ball.
