As we know, the South Florida recruiting landscape is highly competitive. I would go as far as saying its the most competitive in the entire country.
You currently have prospects throughout the region beginning to narrow down where they will play in college. Many of them have already committed and will sign during the various periods.
My focus is on those players that remain unsigned. Below are my thoughts on where some of them might end up. You can view my last article by clicking here.
[player_tooltip player_id="50036" first="Nyjalik" last="Kelly"] - Dillard
[player_tooltip player_id="50036" first="Nyjalik" last="Kelly"] has been a terror in South Florida backfields this season. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive lineman holds offers from Florida State, Oregon, LSU, Miami, among others. Kelly appears to want to stay in state for college. The Canes have had good defensive ends come out of their program in recent years like Jaelan Phillips. The Seminoles have as well with Brian Burns. I will roll with Miami as the pick.
[player_tooltip player_id="49987" first="Wesley" last="Bissainthe"] - Miami Central
The Rockets are 6-2 and [player_tooltip player_id="49987" first="Wesley" last="Bissainthe"] is a big reason why. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound linebacker holds offers from Miami, Florida State, Penn State, West Virginia, among others. I think Bissainthe could find early playing time if he signs with the Canes. I will take them as my selection. Yes, I’m aware in my last piece I was hesitant to pick in-state programs given their struggles this season. The big three have to get some of these kids, right?
[player_tooltip player_id="128241" first="AJ" last="Johnson"] - Western
[player_tooltip player_id="128241" first="AJ" last="Johnson"] is a big wide receiver for the Wildcats. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound prospect has 13 catches for 171 yards and one touchdown this season. The 4-star prospect holds offers from Alabama, LSU, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas, among others. He’s a Louisiana native so I will hedge my bet with the Tigers. In addition, LSU has had good wide receivers come out of their program and enter the NFL draft in recent years. I believe Johnson is SEC bound regardless.
[player_tooltip player_id="50049" first="Brian" last="Dilworth"] - Chaminade-Madonna
[player_tooltip player_id="50049" first="Brian" last="Dilworth"] was originally committed to the Auburn Tigers back in February. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound cornerback backed off his commitment after Gus Malzahn was fired on the plains. He holds offers from Auburn, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, among others. I’m going to pick Cincinnati as the front runner. The Bearcats are having a great season and seem to be separating themselves in the group of five. I think their future is bright as a college football contender and Dilworth could join in the mix.
