We have reached the end of October here in South Florida. The high school football regular season is set to close with teams positioning themselves for the playoffs. The action on the field is about to really heat up.
While that sorts itself out, the recruiting trail is always hot.
Let’s check out some of the news across the region.
2023 [player_tooltip player_id="128048" first="Richard" last="Dandridge"] is a star wide receiver out of Homestead. The 5-foot-10, 160-pound prospect recently picked up an offer from Boston College. Dandrige has helped the Broncos to a 8-1 record while catching nine touchdowns. Homestead also has a good defensive end in Dante Anderson. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound edge rusher is currently uncommitted. He holds offers from Miami, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Indiana, Penn State, among others.
It looks like the University of Florida and head coach Dan Mullen like what they see out of De’Carlo Donaldson Jr. The Gators offered the 6-foot-2, 215-pound tight end out of Gulliver Prep. Donaldson Jr. has simply dominated during his high school career. He has 47 receptions for 682 yards and six touchdowns this season. That comes out too just under 114 yards per game. Florida clearly sees his explosiveness and ability to find the endzone. He is currently committed to Tulane. It will be interesting to see what transpires.
2022 Jaylin Terzado came off the board and committed to Western Carolina. The 5-foot-11, 155-pound wide receiver out of Champagnat Catholic also held offers from Florida Atlantic, New Mexico State and Georgia State. Terzado has big-time potential after the catch with his blazing speed. He could be a problem in the slot at the next level.
I think a big question in the Fort Lauderdale area is where quarterback Zion Turner will end up. The 6-foot-1 signal caller out of St. Thomas Aquinas holds offers Arkansas, Coastal Carolina, FIU, Kentucky, Louisville, among others. Turner is now the highest-rated uncommitted quarterback in the country after Justyn Martin out of Inglewood (Calif.) committed to UCLA. Admittedly, its hard to get a read on where Turner might end up. I would think things might become more clear after St. Thomas Aquinas is done with its latest football title run in Class 7A. The 3-star recruit would be a fantastic late pickup for a program that values dual-threat versatility at the position.
