Moore came into Thursday night’s road game against Norman North as the last unbeaten team in 6A-1. The Lions have looked great during the first half of the season but their second half schedule feature some of their toughest opponents and it started Thursday against Norman North. The Timberwolves were dominant on the defensive side of the ball and the offense did enough to put up plenty of points and to get out with a 29-6 victory over the Lions.
The T’Wolves bounced back from their blowout loss to Owasso last week and a tough loss to Mustang the week before by beating Moore on Thursday. The T’Wolves were in a position where they could not afford a third district loss because that could eliminate them from playoff contention. But they handed Moore their first loss of the year and played like their season was on the line from start to finish. The offense marched right down the field on the first possession and scored on a Gavin FrakesGavinFrakes

touchdown pass to Cason Cabbiness and less than two minutes came off the clock.
The T’Wolves would add two more touchdowns in the second quarter as the defense pitched a shutout for 47 minutes and 58 seconds. Moore would get down to the Norman North 1 yard line with just two seconds left and would punch in a touchdown against Norman North’s back up units to avoid being shut out on Thursday night. As a unit, Norman North’s starters held Moore to under 50 yards passing, including coming up with two interceptions. The defense was led by 2022 linebacker Duncan ParhamDuncanParham

. That combination was a big problem for the Moore offense throughout the night.
Frakes would run for a short touchdown and added a second touchdown pass on the night. Running back Chapman McKownChapmanMcKown

was outstanding in the backfield with Frakes as he finished with 135 yards on 18 carries and a touchdown rushing and a touchdown receiving.

TURNING POINT
When Moore had the ball near midfield in the second quarter, trailing 14-0, they had a chance to do something before halftime. However, the Lions would throw an interception to Norman North’s Gavin Anderson and then the T’Wolves would march down the field and Frakes would toss a touchdown to McKown with 24 seconds left. Instead of the Lions chipping away at the Norman North lead before halftime, the T’Wolves added to it, making it 21-0 at halftime and the game was out of reach at that point.

- 2022 Quarterback - Norman North
It’s hard to not pick the defensive unit for the Timberwolves as they absolutely dominated Moore’s offense from start to finish. However, senior quarterback and Princeton commit Gavin FrakesGavinFrakes

continued to show why he’s one of the best senior quarterbacks in the state right now. Frakes was limited in the passing game but he showed he could tuck it and run if necessary. He finished with 9-16 for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He also had 81 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown rushing. We’ll give Frakes the nod here but you could make a legitimate argument for running back Chapman McKownChapmanMcKown

, who finished with 135 yards and a touchdown rushing and a touchdown receiving. And you can again make an argument for a dominant Norman North defense.
WHAT’S NEXTNorman North: Norman North will hit the road in week seven and look to continue momentum towards locking down one of the playoff spots. They face Putnam City in week seven on a Thursday night on the road. The Pirates are on the road on Friday night, taking on a winless Southmoore squad.
Moore: The Lions will attempt to bounce back in week seven but it won’t be easy as they welcome in Union on Friday night. While the majority of week seven’s games are taking place on Thursday because of Fall Break, this game will be on Friday. Union is hosting Mustang on Friday night and is #2 in 6A-1 right now.
