We're highlighting some of the best defensive performances from Fort Wayne this past Friday.
Qwenton Roach - Bishop Luers - DE - 5'11" 150 lbs
Roach stood out Friday in a big way. He was able to consistently get pressure and force the quarterback out of the pocket. He finally got home late in the game and got a sack which opened the flood gates. He got another sack and then forced a fumble late in the game.
Aydan Rusu - Norwell - FS - 5'9" 180 lbs
Norwell was using Rusu to blitz early in the game and it caused the opposing quarterback to get antsy in the pocket and he started making bad decisions. Rusu also got a sack where he flushed him out of the pocket and chased him down to make the stop on a key 4th down.
Ayden Billiard - Norwell - MLB - 5'11" 176 lbs
Billiard was the other beneficiary from a dominant performance on the defensive side Friday. He was reading the offense like a book and was always one step ahead of what they were doing. He had 11 tackles, 3 TFL, and a sack. He was fantastic and got better as the game went on because his confidence was growing.
Amarion Collins - Northrop - OLB - 5'11" 163 lbs
Northrop's defense was feasting on Friday and dominating the line. Northside couldn't get the running game going and then they started pressing. There was a big hit and it forced a fumble. Collins picked it up and was gone. He raced down the field and scored a TD. He also broke up 2 passes and prevented a 4th down conversion late in the 4th when Northside thought they were getting some momentum.
Jake Roemer - Woodlan - OLB - 6'0" 160 lbs
Woodlan's defense suffocated the offense all night and it started with Roemer. He's a fantastic athlete and is able to cover from sideline to sideline. He's able to cover and blitz which gives Woodlan the ability move him around. His biggest play of the night was a PBU on a 4th down in the endzone to prevent them from scoring. Roemer is only getting better and I enjoyed watching him and the plays he made.
