Continue ReadingIT may sound crazy, but we’re seeing some top 2025 prospects start to make an impact this fall at programs across the state. Even as freshmen, it’s easy to see the talent that some of these younger kids bring to the table. Younger players are playing at the varsity level, and making an impact, year after year. This fall is no different and there are multiple impressive freshman who have made a big impact halfway through the season so far.
Here are five freshman to know about during the 2021 season…
Ousmane Kromah – RB – Lee County
One of the biggest breakout running backs across the state, the big, powerful freshman already stands at 5-foot-11 180-pounds. Kromah is a tough back who is running like one of the state’s best. He’s built well, strong, and he’s becoming more and more of a true back by the week. Against North Miami Beach (FL) two weeks ago, Kromah ran wild and showed that he was one of the best players on the field. He ran hard up the middle and showed an impressive 2nd gear for someone his size and in the open field. He breaks tackles with ease already and has all the makings of a possible 5-star down the road. He’s big, strong, and has his best football ahead of him. He’s already had multiple monster games as a freshman and is expected to have a fantastic career.
Jaylen Bell – Grayson
Don’t look now, but the Grayson Rams are in re-building mode, and many are talking about their freshman from New Jersey. The talented athlete is still looking for a future position to call home as he can make plays both on offense as a receiver and on defense as a defensive back. The 5-foot-11 150-pounder can play both WR and DB due to his current size, quickness, and overall athleticism, but right now he’s one of the starting defensive backs, picking up two passes and breaking up many more so far this year. He already holds three D1 offers including ones from Georgia, Florida State, and Ole Miss. The sky is the limit for his potential over the next few years. He’s already starting as a freshman against 7A competition, so you can expect an incredible high school career from Bell over the next few years.
Antwan Hill – Houston County
A young QB to know out of Middle Georgia, Hill is a 6-foot-4 205-pound dual-threat QB and really knows how to run. He’s full of raw athleticism and has the size and arm talent to make an giant impact over the next few seasons. He’s a very gifted athlete and is incredibly mobile. He can hurt defenses with his legs already, but if he can continue to develop as a passer and improve his arm strength and accuracy over the next few years, Hill could push for 5-star status in the 2023 class. It has been an up and down season so far, but that is to be expected for a freshman starting at QB at the varsity level. Hill has thrown for over 620 yards and 6 touchdowns so far as a freshman and already holds early offers from Georgia and Georgia Tech.
Bryce Hudson – Grayson
Another young talent for the Rams, Hudson is a big tackle prospect who many in the area are already raving about. At 6-foot-4 280-pounds, Hudson already has a solid frame and the ability to move well for his size.. An FBU All-Star, Hudson has played at a high-level throughout his youth days and has plenty of experience already as it relates to playing the best of the best of his age group. He’ll have a chance to impress some college coaches over the next few years and could be a multi-year starter for the Rams early in his career. The Rams are known to produce high-level offensive linemen, and Hudson might be the next great Ram on the offensive line. He’s a lineman to keep a close eye on in the 2025 class.
Luke Nickel – Milton
He may not have won the starting job at 7A powerhouse Milton just yet as he’s sitting behind a current senior in Devin Farrell Devin Farrell 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB Milton | 2022 State GA , but there are many in the area who have extremely high expectations for the young backup, Luke Nickel. His older brother, Jack Nickel Jack Nickel 6'4" | 230 lbs | TE Milton | 2022 State GA , is a three-star tight end in the 2022 class, and Luke has a chance to be a high-caliber prospect as well. The 6-foot-1 190-pounder is a two-time “Born 2 Compete” Georgia Player of the Year and is coming off a great 8th grade season where he threw for over 1,200 yards, rushed for over 1,000 yards, and scored 28 total touchdowns. He’s easily a player to know in the class of 2025. He has a live arm, he’s physically gifted, and doesn’t look like your average freshman. It might be Nickel’s team this time next year, and that had a lot of people in the community very excited.
