Zion McGruder, 6′, 185, Eagle’s Landing
A high-effort perimeter blocker who looks to bury opposing defenders. Zion fights to get his hands inside and keeps his feet moving once initial contact has been made. He shows strong hands in traffic, with no hesitation going over the middle. He can get to the perimeter on jet sweeps and will use his wiggle to make defenders miss in the open field. He’s a physical runner who’s not afraid to put his shoulder down and finish off runs.
Isaiah Mitchell, 5’11”, 155, Peach County
Mitchell knows how to find the holes in zone coverage and will tempo down in them to ensure he stays open. After the catch, he’s extremely aggressive with the ball in his hands and a nightmare to bring down. He quickly gets north and south after hauling in a reception & uses a nifty side-step to evade tacklers. Isaiah is a dangerous man on intermediate concepts and can make you pay if you don’t get him to the ground quickly.
Ethan Barbour, 6’2″, 200, Alpharetta
Barbour right now plays as a tight end, but I think it may be a bit early to project where he’ll play at the next level. On tape, he shows good build-up speed and consistent deep ball tracking. He’s always looking for work as a blocker and has a punch with some solid pop behind it. He effortlessly drops his hips at the top of his route and can stop on a dime. He’s a fiery competitor that is willing to do the dirty work at all times if it means helping his team get a w.
Owen Hancock, 6’1″, 160, Worth County
A sure-handed wideout equipped with good acceleration. Hancock catches everything thrown his way and is extremely effective on quick game concepts. This is a smooth route runner who can work all three parts of the field. He’s a strong runner after the catch and will burst through arm tackle attempts. Keep an eye on him, as this off-season; he’s only going to get bigger, faster, and stronger.
Zimri Evans, 5’11”, 175, South Cobb
A burner with the ability to make plays in the run game or passing game. Evans is a potent return man who can create a spark in big moments. The vision to see the cutback is there, as is the change of direction you look for in a game-breaker. When given the ball between the tackles, Evans refuses to shy away from contact and always seems to be falling forward finishing off his runs. He plays a lot of running back, but I think he has a ton of potential as a slot receiver as well.
