Class of 2024 Rankings: The Best Player By Each Position

When we named the top 52 players in the sophomore class earlier this week, we knew that we had loads of talent across the Palmetto State. Pin-pointing the best player in every position group, though, was a bit more difficult in some cases. There are players who train together in the offseason, work alongside each other in practice and even line up against each on Friday nights. But these 10 players have earned the right to say, at least for now, that they are the best at their positions in all of South Carolina for the Class of 2024. Punter - [player_tooltip player_id="91354" first="Coleman" last="Franzone"], Oceanside Collegiate The Landshark’s stats this year aren’t mind bending; he’s averaging a hair under 35 yards per punt so far. But he was being put into some tough situations early in the year before Oceanside got its sea legs, Franzone’s included. Kicker - [player_tooltip player_id="208343" first="Thomas" last="Guererro"], Greenville Guerrero is a the overlooked part of a Greenville offense that is playing lights out football this fall. Around a whole bunch of stars, the sophomore kicker is 26-of-26 on PATs and also a perfect four-for-four on field goals with a long of 42 yards. Defensive back - [player_tooltip player_id="91353" first="Jamarious" last="Lockett"], Ridge Spring-Monetta Like most small schools, Lockett is among a handful of two-way starters asked to basically never leave the field. Offensively, he’s already got more than 300 total yards and five scores. On Defense, he’s put up 15 tackles, a tackle for loss and a pick. Linebacker - [player_tooltip player_id="91351" first="Jayden" last="Fuller"], Aiken Fuller is a true three-sport athlete, a kid who doesn’t take breaks in his training and preparation. And it shows. He’s been a monster for Aiken this season, piling up tackles and constantly disrupting plays in opposing backfields. Defensive lineman - [player_tooltip player_id="208354" first="Chantwan" last="Harkless"], South Florence Harkless is using his tools to the best of his ability, a player who has come on quickly to become among the best players in his entire region and along the Pee Dee and entire coast. Want a high-motor defensive end whose eyes are in the right place? Look no further. Offensive lineman - [player_tooltip player_id="139286" first="Kam" last="Pringle"], Woodland Pringle is what an offensive lineman would look like if the coach was able to create one in Madden. He’s 6-foot-7, 295 pounds and has already started to exhibit hand and foot work well behind his nine games on the varsity level. Tight end - [player_tooltip player_id="139299" first="Jordan" last="Boyd"], Silver Bluff By this time next year, Boyd may very well be one of Class 2A’s best defensive end/linebacker hybrids. He’s already 6-foot-3, and his length makes him a natural on that side of the ball, too. But he’s still a part of the Bulldogs’ offensive plans for now. Receiver - [player_tooltip player_id="163871" first="Mazeo" last="Bennett Jr"], Greenville The 6-foot, 170-pound Bennett put on some 20 pounds in the offseason, and its been beneficial in helping him get through a much more rigid schedule since his transfer to Greenville. He gets open, breaks tackles and blocks downfield. Running back - [player_tooltip player_id="91348" first="Traevon" last="Dunbar"], Silver Bluff Not all that long ago, we questioned how Dunbar (pictured) was just a freshman. Now, it feels like he’s been destroying defenses in the CSRA and beyond forever. Dunbar appears headed for the top level of college football. But not for another two-and-a-half years. Quarterback - [player_tooltip player_id="91362" first="Jadyn" last="Davis"], Catawba Ridge What can we say about Davis that hasn’t already been said? Start with this: The high-profile prospect with offers and interest galore is keeping all the attention in check. He is impressing everyone around him with a defined focus to his task at hand at Catawba Ridge.
