Ann Arbor Area Games to Watch In Week 8

If you are looking to go to a high school football game in the Ann Arbor area Friday night, these two matchups are both ones you should definatley consider. All of these teams have had great seasons and they all are hoping for deep playoff runs. <strong>St. Joseph (5-2) vs Chelsea (7-0)</strong> Out of conference games late in the season between two very good teams are always exciting. Chelsea comes into the game undefeated on the year. Their most recent victory coming against Tecumseh by a score of 58-21. St. Joseph comes in at 5-2 with their most recent game ending in a 7 point loss to a very tough Stevensville Lakeshore team. The St. Joseph defense will be lead by defensive back <strong>Preston Nichols. </strong>Nichols has a tremendous ability to create interceptions for his team (<a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FS54U">Hudl).</a> In a close game that this will likely be a turnover for Nichols could be critical for St. Joseph. <strong>Trey McGinnis </strong>is another St. Joseph player to watch in this football game. McGinnis has been making a ton of plays for St. Joseph not only on offense and defense but in special teams as well (<a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2G2U7D">Hudl</a>). Chelsea has a star, in running back Trent Hill. Through the first 7 games this season, Hill has already accounted for 22 touchdowns. Hill does a great job of quickly making cuts and then accelerating back up to top speed almost effortlessly (<a href="http://www.hudl.com/video/3/14517039/6147b040664b2d0bc01787e6">Hudl</a>). <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="159900" first="Carson" last="Gray"] </strong>is a guy on the defensive side of the football for Chelsea that St. Joseph should be aware of. Gray is a versatile linebacker who is good at blitzing off the edge. Look for Gray to be rushing the passer late in this game. <strong>Dexter (5-2) vs Saline (7-0)</strong> Dexter has had two tough losses this season. The first one coming in week 3 by 1 point to Temperance Bedford. Their second loss was to Ann Arbor Huron who stands at 6-1 on the season with their only loss coming to Saline. Dexter has one of the best players in the state in tight end <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="30328" first="Brennan" last="Parachek"]. </strong>Dexter will look to get Parachek the ball early and often in this game. Wide receiver <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="99349" first="Braeden" last="Fuson"] </strong>is another weapon on offense for Dexter. Fuson has the speed and athleticism to beat corners deep for big plays (<a href="http://www.hudl.com/v/2FwNQx">Hudl</a>). In a game where Dexter will need points and big plays, I would say that Fuson would be another guy Dexter will look to get the football to as much as possible. For Saline, the offense will feature an outstanding football player in <strong>CJ Carr</strong>. Carr is coming off a big game against Temperance Bedford. Carr does a good job of getting all his talented receivers involved in the passing game. Wide receiver <strong>Roman Laurio </strong>is one of Carr’s favorite targets on the outside. Laurio is a tremendous athlete who made a big play touchdown last week in the win over Temperance Bedford. <strong>Caden</strong><strong> Winston </strong>is another wide receiver that Carr will like to get the football to. Winston has good speed and quickness and can take it the distance anytime he has the football in his hands.
