Here is a look at the top wide receiver performances from Week 7 in the Garden State.
Luke Szabo | Sparta
This past weekend he caught 7 passes for 173 yards and two touchdowns as he helped Sparta to a 35-3 victory over Mendham. This was the first time this season that Szabo recorded more than 100 yards receiving as he was able to get past the Mendham defense on numerous occasions. The 6-foot-3,190-pound receiver has good straight-line speed and the ability to win 50-50 balls. He has good body control and uses his height to his advantage over smaller defenders.
Jimmy Casey | Peddie
Casey was the beneficiary of [player_tooltip player_id="124480" first="Frankie" last="Farmer"]’s big day as he caught 17 passes for 170 yards and one touchdown. He’s a 6-foot-7, 250-pound tight end who was a matchup nightmare for Lawrenceville’s linebackers. He does a good time getting off the line of scrimmage and finding the hole in the zone and picking up yards after contact as he uses his strength and size to his advantage.
Charly Mullaly | Peddie
This is the first time this season that we’ve had a pair of teammates in the top five but Peddie had great success throwing the ball this past weekend even though they fell to Lawrenceville 27-20. This is the second time this season that Mullaly has been featured as he’s a crisp route runner who does a good job creating separation and has good ball skills. He’s one of [player_tooltip player_id="124480" first="Frankie" last="Farmer"]s favorite targets as he caught 11 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown. He scored on a 68-yard pass from Farmer in the 4th quarter.
[player_tooltip player_id="218554" first="Lotzier" last="Brooks"] | Millville
Brooks averaged 40.25 yards per catch last weekend as he hauled in four passes for 161 yards and a score in a 4-07 victory over Williamstown. He scored on an 80-yard touchdown pass from [player_tooltip player_id="190993" first="Nate" last="Robbins"] in the second quarter.
[player_tooltip player_id="160789" first="Nick" last="Dunneman"] | Seton Hall Prep
Dunneman helped Seton Hall Prep to a 34-21 victory over Delbarton last weekend by catching 8 passes for 153 yards and a touchdown. He scored his lone touchdown in the second quarter on a 41-yard pass from quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="135815" first="Jaden" last="Craig"]. He’s a versatile receiver who can be lined up both outside and inside in the slot. He does a good job setting up the defense and has the vision and speed to get past opposing defenders.
