With the release of the updated 2022 rankings, let's take a look at some players and see where they landed. Players have been grinding since the end of last year to see their work culminate in a state title and scholarship offers. As the season progresses, players begin to develop more, get more opportunities, or have breakout seasons. As a result, there was quite a bit of movement across the 2022 rankings, with the list nearly doubling. Here we will highlight a few players that have shown out this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="157566" first="Grant" last="Guyett"] (WR - Omaha Westside) 6’ 190 lbs | Hudl Overall: 17 | WR: 1 Guyett has continued to make his case as the best wideout in the state with a solid season to date. The Warriors receiver has racked up 539 receiving yards and has found the endzone 9 times through 7 games and is not being slowed down anytime soon. When you watch his tape the first things you notice is his vice-like hands and the fact that he can catch anything, when combined with great body control, reach, and ability to high-point the ball and you get a dangerous wideout. Guyett is also a maestro with footwork, able to glide through his routes very smoothly. Guyett’s talent and production have earned him an offer from Minnesota State, ultimately leading to his commitment. [player_tooltip player_id="157855" first="Owen" last="Prince"] (DB - Plattsmouth) 6’ 170 lbs | Hudl Overall: 30 | DB: 2 Prince has really broken out in his senior campaign as a defensive back for Plattsmouth. He is an incredibly athletic kid that can go out and make a big play when you need it on either side of the ball. Although his receiving numbers have dipped his impact on the Plattsmouth defense is immeasurable. Prince has four interceptions through 6 games this year compared to 5 picks in 11 games as a junior, proving to be one of the best ball-hawking safeties in Nebraska. Aside from superior ball skills, Prince is very solid in coverage from the safety position. He has a natural instinct of being wherever the ball is going. In the clip below, you’ll see how he sniffs out screen passes and short passes to the flats and is able to stop them at the line. He will also come in and play run support. He has a great breakdown tackling technique and wraps up for the secure tackle. Prince’s consistent development and football IQ have sold me on him just as much as his numbers. [player_tooltip player_id="151096" first="Parker" last="Wise"] (RB/LB - Kearney) 6’ 205 lbs | Hudl Overall: 73 | ATH: 10 [player_tooltip player_id="151096" first="Parker" last="Wise"] is part of a talented group of athletes out of Kearney. He doubles as a bruising back and as a hard-hitting linebacker. On offense, he is a powerful runner that can bounce off of defenders and doesn’t do down on first contact. Behind Wise’s tough running he can wear defenses down as the game continues to progress. Defensively, Wise is a smart and decisive middle linebacker that tackles hard and can be the leader of a defense. He can shoot through his gaps and blow up run plays in the backfield. He has great size, strength, and athleticism to play either position at the next level. [player_tooltip player_id="156091" first="Dylan" last="Gray"] (LB - Lincoln Northeast) 6’ 210 lbs | Hudl Overall: 115 | LB: 17 Gray is a player more schools should be giving a serious nod to. The Rockets LB’s duties extend further than just as a ’backer. He is a straight up baller on the field and will do whatever is needed from playing middle linebacker, longsnapping, getting carries at running back, and is even seeing playing time as QB. Gray’s versatility is undeniable and he plays each position with as much intensity and heart as the next. In his Game 3&4 tape, he had a series of clips where he; threw a touchdown at QB, lined up at LS on a punt and ran down forcing the muffed punt and recovery, and then where he blows up his gap and tackles the back at the line. Out of all these positions, linebacker is where he causes the most damage and the position he will most likely play. He is super tough and makes his prescence felt with every tackle he makes. Overall, Gray is a player who just loves to ball and will make any linebacker room better with his play and intensity.

[player_tooltip player_id="167116" first="Cody" last="Harris"] (OL - Bennington)

6’5" 240 lbs | Hudl

Overall: 118 | OL: 15
Harris and the Bennington OL are looking like an absolute unit right now. At the center of it is 6’5" [player_tooltip player_id="167116" first="Cody" last="Harris"] who has been playing the position exceptionally well. Even at his height he plays with good pad level and maintains great leverage over defenders, finishing them with his power. He’s athletic enough to move to the next level and get in front of backs to lead block. This offensive [player_tooltip player_id="191159" first="Omar" last="Jackson"] (DL - Omaha Central) 6’2" 255 lbs | Hudl Overall: 138 | DL: 17 [player_tooltip player_id="191159" first="Omar" last="Jackson"] has been making up for lost time after missing the 2020 season. The Central Eagles lineman has been feasting in the trenches all season long. He is a player that is still raw, but has all the tools to be force in the interior line at the next level. He has a quick first step and can generate a lot of force with his punch. Jackson plays the run very well and can shut down interior runs. Jackson should continue to progress and develop into a great run stuffing interior DL.
