The ones who deserve attention based on what they’ve proved on tape. Today, we put that focus on junior offensive linemen in the state of Georgia. Every prospect listed has ability but has yet to see their recruitment take that next step. Look for that to change quickly. Here’s who to know!
JD Trowell, 6’3″, 285, White County
An aggressive puller that punches on a rise and rolls his hips on contact. Trowell is always looking for work on the second level and will play through the whistle. He shows rare upper-body strength at the point of attack, combined with sufficient knee drive. Based on his vertical stature, movement skills, and nastiness, I think he projects as a guard at the next level.
Cayden Sweatt, 6’4″, 275, Bremen
A mauler off the snap, who is one tough man to escape once he gets his paws on the breastplate. Sweatt can easily create vertical displacement on defenders and help open up massive running lanes. He’s a talented down blocker who can excel in both zone and gap schemes. He shows good lateral movement skills and outstanding body control against counter moves.
Bryce Miller, 6’4″, 290, Wheeler County
A big man who is pretty light on his feet and shows a clean vertical pass set. He’s a nimble puller off the snap and can add value on buck sweep schemes off tackle. Miller does a fine job getting steps in the ground when working up to the second level and uses his pure size to dominate linebackers on contact. He displayed an excellent anchor to go with ample knee bend.
Will Fitzpatrick, 6’5″, 280, Walton
A serious physical presence that can dominate off the snap. Will does a good job keeping his shoulders square to his target and won’t whiff on second-level blocks. He plays with a low pad level and steady base that he uses to out-leverage his opponent. He understands zone double team principles and when to get off & work to the next level. The hand quickness was evident, and he rarely ever lost the hand placement battle.
Sean Thompkins, 6’6″, 310, Newton
It’s hard to find guys that look like Thompkins and move as well as he does. He’s a dominant puller on power schemes and can drive his assigned second-level defender out of his gap. Despite being 6’6″, he plays awfully low and explodes towards down linemen like a missile. Thompkins has loose hips and plenty of God-given strength to dominate at the point of attack.
Other Names to Watch
Luke Sacchetti, 6’3″, 285, Forsyth Central
Marselle Felton, 6’4″, 275, North Cobb
