Keenan is a program that has not found the success it has wanted in the past few years, but first-year coach Ray McCleod has instilled a new scheme on both sides of the ball and so far, it’s paying off for the Raiders.
<b>Hernandez O’Neal</b> threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another and <b>[player_tooltip player_id="103634" first="Marquece" last="Williams"]</b> had his second straight strong game with 159 yards rushing and two scores to help Keenan improve to 2-0 after a 42-16 win over C.A. Johnson Friday night.
O’Neal is only a junior that should be garnering some interest on the recruiting front. Williams is another player that could start seeing his stock rise. He has 391 yards rushing in two games.
But those were not the only outstanding players for the Raiders. Two players that excel on both sides of the ball are <b>Javion Robinson</b> and <b>Jaden Gipson</b>. Both play wide receiver with Robinson playing outside linebacker and safety on defense. Gipson, who had a 32-yard touchdown catch, also had an outstanding game from his free safety spot. Senior <b>G’nyus Chambers </b>is a force at middle linebacker.
That defensive unit helped force seven turnovers to go along with the three onside kicks they recovered.
C.A. Johnson could never get things going offensively but two players stood out on that side of the ball. Junior <b>Dawan Rice</b> scored both the Hornets touchdowns and displayed a powerful running style. Senior <b>[player_tooltip player_id="91245" first="Isom" last="Harris"]</b> came off the bench but ended up with 136 yards passing. Harris is the normal starter but was dealing with some nagging injuries.
