Mater Dei (Santa Ana) two-way star [player_tooltip player_id="25278" first="Cooper" last="Barkate"] announced his commitment to Harvard on Sunday.
Barkate spent his first two high school seasons at St. Margaret’s where he got most of his 19 offers. He briefly attended Mission Viejo where he ran track prior to the pandemic and has been at Mater Dei since. He missed the majority of the spring season due to injury but is healthy now and played in the team’s opener against Duncanville.
He is a very good athlete with track level speed and was an All-County lacrosse player as a freshman at St. Margaret’s. Coach Rollinson of Mater Dei told me that his jumping ability was very impressive.
Barkate chose Harvard over many Power 5 conference schools. It will be interesting to see if this commitment sticks and Barkate ends up signing there.

Mayfair defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="25291" first="Nick" last="Adimora"] received an offer from Portland State earlier this week.
Offensively, Adimora is a slot receiver who runs a lot of jet sweeps and he returns punts on special teams. On defense, he is a free safety.
Mayfair’s defense is pretty aggressive and plays a lot of man coverage and Adimora excels covering slot receivers in man or playing in the cover 2 shell. He closes to the ball well and has a high football IQ. It’s apparent when watching his film that he prepares very well and has good instincts for what the opponent will be running.
Adimora also has offers from Kansas, UNLV and Eastern Washington.

St. John Bosco sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="115433" first="Peyton" last="Woodyard"] was offered by Ole Miss on Monday.
Woodyard is one of many Bosco players who is a safety who can also come up and play in the box if needed. He is 6-foot-2 which helps him in pass coverage against big Trinity League receivers. He is close to 190 pounds and can lay big hits on people in the running game. He does a great job sealing the edge on outside runs and forcing opposing running backs inside.
Ole Miss is the 17th team to offer Woodyard. Ole Miss also offered his Bosco teammates [player_tooltip player_id="145132" first="Ty" last="Lee"] and [player_tooltip player_id="25380" first="Jshawn" last="Frausto-Ramos"].

Western (Anaheim) linebacker Chris Lozano was offered by Lawrence University in Wisconsin earlier in the week.
Lozano is a little undersized at 5-foot-10 and around 200 pounds but has good football instincts. He can play inside or outside linebacker and plays a little tight end on offense as well.
He is second on Western’s team in tackles so far this season. Special teams coordinator and linebackers coach Matt Sosinsky was the coach who extended the offer to Lozano.
