Below, you will notice that there are players who may not have gotten as much shine last week, but very much produced at a very high level.
Amazi Wiliams (RB)- Clinch County
Even though his team lost to Charlton County, Williams put up great numbers on the ground, making him one of the most underrated MVP’s of the week. In total, he ran for about 218 yards, which proved to be hard for the opposing defense to stop. Even more impressive, these rushing yards came with 4 TD’s. With this being said, William’s 24 points on the ground accumulated for a large portion of his team’s total of 34 points last week.
Jett Miller Jett Miller 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB Wesleyan School | 2022 GA (QB)- Wesleyan
Due to the fact that Wesleyan is not talked about much, the great performances of their players are often times overlooked. For example, not only did Jett Miller Jett Miller 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB Wesleyan School | 2022 GA help lead his team to a 42-7 win over Loganville Christian, but he also passed for around 400 yards. This 400 yards came from only 18 passes, and also included 5 passing TD’s as well. If anything, this performance alone not only solidifies him as one of the most underrated MVP’s last week, but one of the most underrated QB’s in the state.
Jake Johnson Jake Johnson 6'5" | 210 lbs | TE Oconee County | 2022 State GA (WR)- Oconee
Even though Johnson did not score in his team’s win over Veteran’s High School, his performance as a receiver certainly helped set them up for success. In Oconee’s win, he managed to total slightly over 135 yards, on only 9 catches. This production is impressive, and we truly believe that he has a few more games in him this season in which he can produce the same, while adding a few TD’s to this total.
Shug Bentley (LB)- St. Pius
While Bentley may be the only underrated Defensive MVP that we have on this list, we were very impressed with his production last week, as he totaled about 14 tackles, with a few of them also being for a loss. This defensive production, as well as a few of the big stops he made, made it possible for his team to shut out Northview, 47-0.
Kevin Rochester (RB)- North Hall
Last week, Rochester contributed to little known North Hall as an underrated MVP due to his great performance toting the rock. In this game, Rochester not only ran for 157 yards, but he also totaled up 4 TD’s before the day ended.
De’Nylon Morrissette De’Nylon Morrissette 6'1" | 200 lbs | WR Brookwood | 2022 State GA (WR)- North Cobb
In typical fashion, Morrissette continued to dominate for North Cobb, but due to the star studded performances of some of this week’s MVP’s, he slightly fell out of the rankings, to the underrated MVP rankings. Regardless, on only 7 passes, Morrissette accumulated about 190 yards, with 2 TD’s. These 2 TD’s came in his team’s 40-19 win over North Gwinnett.
Holden Geriner Holden Geriner 6'3" | 210 lbs | QB Benedictine | 2022 State GA (QB)- Benedictine
Geriner was a very underrated MVP this week, as he not only helped Benedictine come out on top in a close 49-42 win, but he also accounted for a large amount of his team’s touchdowns. To start, he ran for 3 TD’s, and he completed 29 of the 39 passes that he threw. In total, these passes totaled up to about 440 yards, making him a very underrated MVP of the week.
Darius Cannon (WR)- White County
Even though Darius and his team lost to Dawson County last Friday, his performance helped his team to be in a position to potentially win the game. During the game, on only 9 passes, Cannon managed to rack up slightly over 200 yards (202), and 2 TD’s. If he can continue to progress at this rate, we expect him to be able to put up big numbers this year.
