Out of all of the games this week that were more than impressive, there were a few that managed to stand out. Some of them were due to the performances of certain prospects, or even the overall performance of some of the teams. Below, feel free to look at what we have listed as our top 5 games of week 6. Campbell (13) vs Peachtree Ridge (14) Perhaps one of the best games of the week, Campbell fell just short against Peachtree Ridge, as they lost 13-14. Not only are both teams now 3-2, but each team had their own fair share of players who contributed in big ways during this game. On the defensive side of the ball, both teams had a few players who racked up a good amount of tackles, but specifically, there were a few prospects who stood out on Campbell’s side of the ball. This included the likes of Brandon Shelton, with 15 tackles, Grant Fielder, who had 9, and Jalen Shelton, and D’Kyah Banks who each had 8 tackles. Despite this, the offenses for both team’s could not manage to get going like they typically would want to, hence the low final score. Good news for both teams is that moving forward, if they can each continue to capitalize on the strength of their defense, they can control their own destiny this season as long as their offense’s contribute with reasonable output. John’s Creek (40) vs Riverwood (32) Just like the two teams above, both John’s Creek and Riverwood currently hold the same record, as they both sit at 4-1. With this being said, they had a very even match up, as both offenses found ways to flourish. While the margin was not as close as Campbell’s was when playing Peachtree Ridge, Riverwood managed to keep the game within 7 points. Not only was this a close contest, but plenty of players managed to show out in this game as well. Predominantly of John’s Creek’s side of the field. For example, [player_tooltip player_id="119304" first="Kyle" last="Durham"] managed to throw for over 170 yards and 2 TD’s, while also rushing for 2 TD’s as well. In addition to Durham, Tylan Johnson also toted the ball well, rushing for 132 yards. Warner Robins (56) vs Lee County (30) While the score of this game may not be as close as the other match ups on this list, the reason in which we listed this game was due to the fact that Warner Robins is 5-0, and Lee County is 5-1, making this one of the closer, and most competitive match ups of the week. Following a close first quarter, that only saw each team score 7 points, the game opened up as the second quarter progressed. By this time, Warner Robins got out to a healthy lead, as they outscored Lee County 21-9. Going into the half, it was a 2 score game, and by the time the third quarter ended, Lee County found themselves down by even more points. In the third quarter, Warner Robins outscored Lee County 28-7 before finishing off with a a fourth quarter that only saw 7 points, which happened to be scored by Lee. Ware County (42) vs Benedictine (49) As one can see, this match up was only a 7 point game, making it a close margin, but also a super exciting match up. Even though Ware County fell short, they had plenty of players who performed very well. To start, despite also throwing 3 interceptions, Castellanos threw for 2 TD's and 238 yards, making for a ferocious aerial attack by Ware County. To add to this performance, he also rushed for 2 TD's, only adding to his great contributions to his team. Additionally, Cartevious Norton also had a great performance, as the RB rushed for 173 yards and 2 TD's. Glynn Academy (14) vs Brunswick (17) Glynn Academy, who is currently 1-3-1, managed to hang in there during a close game against Brunswick, as they only lost by a field goal. This game winning field goal for Brunswick happened to come in OT, which made this match up even crazier. Brunswick was not only leading Glynn Academy 14-6 going into the fourth quarter, but they managed to give up a TD, and a 2 point conversion to tie the game as the fourth quarter got rolling. In this win by Brunswick, a few players stood out for them. On the offensive side of the ball, Pat Leggett rushed for 68 yards and TD, while [player_tooltip player_id="33943" first="Chuckobe" last="Hill"] also totaled about 40+ yards. To add to this, on the defensive side of the ball, Brunswick had 3 players who totaled 10 tackles or more. This included Adam Mweemba, and Ivan Johnson, who both had 10 tackles, and Devin Smith, who totaled 11.
