Texas never lacks talent and is home to some of the nation’s top ballplayers year after year. However, due to the pure volume of prospects, it’s not uncommon for prospects to slip through the cracks. Today we wanted to look at a few defensive standouts who we think can ball and deserve more attention in the recruiting world. Here’s who to know!
DE: Brendan White, 6’2", 230, Waxahachie A twitchy pass rusher with a great get-off. White shows good bend off the edge and violent hands. He’s stout against the run and is so athletic that he can bait quarterbacks into keeping the zone read and yet still track them down. Mr. White displayed a fierce bull rush and a nasty long arm on opposing tackles. OLB: Aiden Wallace, 6’5", 200, Roosevelt A high motor pass rusher that refuses to give up on a play. Through the first five games of the season, Wallace has been dominant, already accounting for eight total sacks. Aiden has great vertical stature and undeniable body control when rushing the quarterback. He uses his long arms to create lockout before using the push-pull technique to throw defenders by. His rip move is also an effective tool that he has in the back of his toolbox. DL: Ravonte Blowe, 6’4", 220, Denton Ryan Blowe is extremely quick off the snap and can get skinny through blocks. Despite being 6’4", he explodes off the football with a low pad level and will win at the point of attack. He’s two hundred and twenty pounds but is willing to fight off double teams and make plays in the run game. Right now, he plays inside as a three-technique but will probably kick outside to a five tech at the next level. LB: [player_tooltip player_id="130698" first="Jaxson" last="Slanker"], 6’, 205, College Station Slanker has been all over the place this fall, already accounting for 64 total tackles and helping the Cougars to a 5-0 record. This kid is a serious physical presence in the run game. He will step up in any gap, initiate contact, and make ball carriers go backward. He quickly scrapes down the line and can close on a ball carrier in an instant. He’s so rangy on tape and can make plays in a multitude of ways. DB: Fordham Parks, 5’10", 170, Cinco Ranch Don’t let his size fool you; this young man is a thumper. Parks has accounted for 28 tackles, 3 interceptions & 1 forced fumble already. He’s sharp at diagnosing the run and will get downhill fast to make a play in the alley. Fordham will come to balance and shimmy, ensuring he doesn’t whiff on a tackle attempt. He has experience playing both corner and safety & can provide value as a swing DB when in a pickle.
