The Lansing area will feature several key matchups in week 2. If you are in Lansing on Thursday or Friday night, book plans to attend one of these great games. Fenton (0-1) vs East Lansing (0-1) Sep. 3 East Lansing lost a close one last Friday night when they took on the Grand Blanc Bobcats. The final score was 34-40 in favor of the Bobcats. East Lansing is lead by senior defensive back [player_tooltip player_id="80540" first="Ambrose" last="Wilson"] who is currently committed to Syracuse. East Lansing also has [player_tooltip player_id="80529" first="Asher" last="Gregory"] at running back. Gregory carried the ball 12 times for 90 yards and a touchdown. Fenton is coming off a tough loss to a tremendous Midland Dow football team. Quarterback Seth Logan will be key in Fenton’s success in the football game. Logan threw for two touchdowns in the loss versus Midland Dow. Fenton’s receiving leader against Midland Dow was senior Sam Claborn. Logan and Claborn must keep that connection going to help their team pull off the win. DeWitt (1-0) vs. Portland (1-0) Sep. 2 DeWitt is coming off a massive 47-27 win over Traverse City Central. Wisconsin commit [player_tooltip player_id="30211" first="Tommy" last="McIntosh"] came up with a big 36-yard touchdown in the game. Bryce Kurncz accounted for the first touchdown of the game for DeWitt with a 37-yard receiving touchdown. The receiver core is a major strength of the DeWitt Panthers and will need to be on display This Thursday. A strong rushing attack was key in Portland’s week one win over Ovid-Elsie. Senior running back Caden Galey will look to continue his great play this week. Last week against Ovid-Elsie, Galey rushed for 122 yards and 2 touchdowns. Ethan Patrick made plays on both sides of the ball last week for Portland. Patrick recorded 3 Interceptions on defense, and also chipped in on offense, with 3 catches for 65 yards. If Patrick comes down with 3 interceptions this week against DeWitt, there’s is a great chance they will win the football game. Lansing Catholic (1-0) vs. Williamston (1-0) Sep. 2 Lansing Catholic won last week 28-14 over Lansing Waverly. Lansing Catholic has always been one of the toughest football teams in the state of Michigan. [player_tooltip player_id="30182" first="Bo" last="Poljan"] is one of Lansing Catholic’s best players. Poljan has great size and is a nightmare for opponents to block. Williamston must double team him in order to keep him contained. [player_tooltip player_id="30257" first="Alex" last="Watters"] is one of Lansing Catholic’s key weapons on offense. Last week, he accounted for 9 catches 136 yards and a touchdown. Watters would love to continue that trend this week against Williamston. Williamston is coming off a big win versus Croswell-Lexington. Williamston put up plenty of points in their 43-20 victory. Safety Joey Mahaney came up with a big pick-six interception last week versus Croswell-Lexington. Mahaney also came down with a receiving touchdown catch. Mahaney would love to make more big plays this week against Lansing Catholic. Jackson Newman is an outstanding tackler at the linebacker position. Newman has great size, speed and athleticism to make plays on the field. He can accelerate off blocks very quickly and make tackles in the back field. Hudl. This is setting up to be a physical, Tough football game. This could easily be a high scoring affair. The last team with the football will likely win this game.
