AJ George – Ottawa Hills – RB/WR/OLB – 6’2″ 175 lbs
George isn’t your typical back, he’s bigger and stronger than most of those on the field with him. Friday was no different, George was using his size and speed to slice and dice the defense all night. George was used in at least 3 different positions on offense Friday and the whole game plan was to get the ball in his hands in open space. George was delivering and moving the chains on their way to a win.
Jack Perozek Ottawa Hills – RB/WR – 5’11″ 165 lbs
Perozek was a great counter punch to George. He was able to come in and make some plays while not overworking George. Jack isn’t an elite athlete, but he’s a pretty good one who has great contact balance skills. It shows off best in the RedZone when they bring him in to hammer it home. Perozek was able to hit paydirt early in the game from just a few yards out. He’s efficient and electric.
Alex Lewis – Maumee – RB – 5’11″ 150 lbs
In a night where not a lot of things went right for Maumee, Lewis was able to shine. He was able to score their only touchdown of the game on a pretty fantastic effort on a screen. He took it up the middle, stayed behind his linemen, and then turned the corner and raced down the field for the score. He was constantly picking up chunks at a time and making guys miss, it was just not nearly enough to keep them in the game.
Lake Boos – Eastwood – QB – 6’0″ 174 lbs
Boos was letting it rip early and often. He was making nice throws in the pocket, on the run, and when being pressured right in the face. Not much was able to slow him down. He was making his reads and he knew where to go with the ball. While his footwork can be pretty choppy, the ball always got where it needed to be. Boos had a fantastic performance and he is definitely on my radar moving forward.
Cameron Swiger Cameron Swiger 6'0" | 190 lbs | QB St. Francis DeSales | 2023 State OH – Anthony Wayne – QB – 6’1″ 195 lbs
Anthony Wayne might be the best 1-2 team in the state. They lost the first 2 weeks to Findlay and St. John’s by a total of 12 points. Swiger was able to keep them in those games and Friday, found his groove. Swiger was able to put on a clinic and drop 41 on Clay. The biggest critique I had of his performance is that he may have one of the longest wind-ups I’ve ever seen when he’s getting ready to launch a bomb down the field. Swiger was hitting throws on the run and showing he has a big arm throwing the seem route. Swiger had a fantastic week and I’d love to see him repeat these types of performances.
