St. Frances suffered their first loss of the season on opening day against a formidable and highly experienced foe in St. Thomas Aquinas (FL). The Panthers found their rhythm late and put points on the board, however, Aquinas proved too much for the previously top ranked St. Frances squad. Even though it wasn’t the result they wanted, St. Frances showed flashes of greatness against Aquinas so let’s take a closer look at the stars who shined brightest in this contest. St. Frances also looks to bounce back from their loss tomorrow away against Franklin.
St. Frances Academy
2022 5’10 190 RB – [player_tooltip player_id="90522" first="Terron" last="Kellman"]
[player_tooltip player_id="90522" first="Terron" last="Kellman"] ran the ball very effectively against Aquinas, and he also demonstrated that he’s one of the key leaders on this football team. He broke off one run for about forty yards and nearly scored the touchdown but he was stopped just short of the goal line. The Panthers eventually punched the ball in with linebacker [player_tooltip player_id="90597" first="Darrien" last="Lewis"]. Kellman later scored a touchdown of his own to take the lead for the Panthers but that lead was short lived. If Kellman can continue to run the football like he is then St. Frances is sure to bounce back in emphatic fashion from their opening day loss. [player_tooltip player_id="90522" first="Terron" last="Kellman"] is absolutely a D1 prospect who will continue to prove himself against worthy competition this season.
2022 6’2 200 WR – Elijah Sarratt
Elijah Sarratt made the play of the game for the Panthers when he laid out for an incredible catch on a third down and long situation. The play gave St. Frances the ball essentially on the goal line and then the ball was promptly fumbled into the end zone on the next play which gave Aquinas the ball. Sarratt deserves a lot of credit for making that critical play which kept St. Frances in the game. The ball by [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"] was an absolute missile with a lot of mustard on it and it’s absolutely spectacular that Elijah Sarratt caught that pass as extended as he was. There’s no doubt that Elijah Sarratt is on pace to have a huge year and scouts everywhere should be on notice.
2022 6’1 200 QB – [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"]
All things considered, [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"] had a solid outing against St. Thomas Aquinas. He made big plays when his team needed him, and he also converted on a bunch of third downs which consistently kept the Panthers in the game. Interceptions weren’t an issue for Griffith in this contest and he displayed a strong football IQ when going through his progressions. [player_tooltip player_id="90510" first="John" last="Griffith"] is getting better each game, and it’s more than likely that he will bounce back with a win in the win column tomorrow at Franklin.
