<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="38703" first="Rovaughn" last="Banks"] - 2022 Athlete</strong></span>
On a field covered in very good athletes, no star shined as bright as [player_tooltip player_id="38703" first="Rovaughn" last="Banks"] did on Friday night. The 5’11", 194 lb. running back was all but unstoppable against Broken Arrow. In the game he had a whopping 31 attempts which he turned into 197 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. He showed great hands in the passing game with three catches and a long of 10 yards. Though the stout offensive line of Union was a big part of his success, a lot of Rovaughn did on Friday night was due to his elusiveness. He is twitchy fast and makes a lot of people miss. In the photo series below you will see him caught in the backfield by the defensive tackle bursting through. As he receives the hand off, he maneuvers around him and seemingly into the arms of a waiting linebacker. With another quick move, he leaves the linebacker behind and turns nothing into something with a great five yard run.

<span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="110741" first="Lane" last="Wood"] - 2024 Tight End</strong></span>
There was tremendous tight end play all over the field on Friday night and [player_tooltip player_id="110741" first="Lane" last="Wood"] was a major standout for Union. Wood - like his BA counterpart, Joshua Willhite - was an immediate standout based on his ability to help in the run game. The 6’3", 200 lb. tight end is a legitimate problem for opposing defensive linemen and linebackers. He is strong and does a great job of engaging and staying engaged, doing everything asked in order to help spring the Union runner. Wood is definitely limited to just blocking, however. Wood caught three balls for 56 yards and a touchdown. He showed not only good hands, but breakaway speed to escape the coverage and to accelerate into the open field after making the catch. Only a 2024, [player_tooltip player_id="110741" first="Lane" last="Wood"] is one to keep an eye on for years to come.
<strong><span style="font-size: 14pt;">[player_tooltip player_id="188149" first="RJ" last="Wilson"] - 2022 Defensive End</span></strong>
The play of the game was probably Wilson’s absolutely incredible interception. As Broken Arrow seemingly had Union on the back foot with a tremendous screen play call, Wilson found himself as the only defender on the side of the field where the screen play had developed. He burst through the pulling Broken Arrow linemen and caught the screen pass in the backfield before the quarterback or running back had any idea what was going on. His interception not only interrupted what looked to all in attendance to be a huge gain, it all but secured the victory for the home squad. Wilson is a 6’3", 240 lb. end with great speed and tremendous strength. He has a high motor and is involved in every play defensively for his squad. Often lined up opposite an imposingly sized tackle, Wilson showed great burst and strength to move his blocker out of the way (or to the ground) and be there in time to meet the running back almost at the point of the hand off.
