The Timberwolves enter the season with expectations to be one of the top teams on the West side of the state. With multiple big play touchdowns, they backed up those high hopes with an explosive offense. Let’s take a look at a few of those players that lit the spark for those explosions. While also highlighting some of the players that dominated from their tough defensive front seven.
Gavin Frakes

Norman North | 2022

OK
– 2022 Quarterback
With almost 400 yards of total offense, it was definitely Frakes’ night. He showed good composure in the pocket all night. He routinely stepped up in the pocket to avoid pressure from the edge, while also not being phased by interior pressure. In the pocket, the Princeton commit delivered deep and accurate darts to open receivers. Frakes is definitely a pass first QB, preferring to get the ball in the hands of playmakers. But he’s definitely not a statue either. When pressured and no one open, he was more than willing to escape the pocket and nearly racked up 100 yards on the ground.
Brayden Dorney – 2023 Wide Receiver
Listed as a slot on Norman North’s two deep, Dorney showed much more than running short and intermediate routes. On North’s first pass of the game, he got behind the defense for a 70 yard bomb. Two drives later, he did it again. This time for a 50 yard bomb. After showing the wheels to be a depth threat, he went on for a total 7 receptions for 194 yard and 3 touchdowns.
Cason Cabbiness – 2023 Wide Receiver
Cabbiness waited till the fourth quarter to make his first visit to the red zone, but he made two memorable trips. For his first he broke and eluded tackles on a 58 yard score, with a lot of it coming on yards after catch. Then he capped off the game with a 19 yard fade route reception in the back of the end zone. Along with senior

and fellow junior Brayden Darney, Cabbiness headline what should be a very productive receiving corps for North.
Duncan Parham

Parham

Norman North | 2022
State
OK
– 2022 Outside Linebacker
With the opposition having a run based attack, the athletic Parham often operated essentially as another defensive lineman. The tall D1 recruit had himself a night in that role. He recorded two sacks on the elusive Tias McClarty in the first half along with tackles for losses all night long. He was quick off the edge, often avoiding lineman in his mission to disrupt Norman. Parham racked up the tackle numbers while continuing Oklahoma’s tradition of two sports (often basketball) athletes turning into highly sought after recruits on the gridiron.
Parker Andrews

Andrews

Norman North | 2023
State
OK
– 2023 Defensive End
If it wasn’t Parham having his name called, it was often Andrews. The junior’s success was built more around power and shedding blocks to win at the point attack. Still he also had the mobility to set the edge and was a physical presence on the edge. An injury derailed his sophomore campaign and Andrews had the look of a young man making up for lost time.
Joshua Kornada – 2022 Nose Tackle
The third member of the Timberwolves’ disruptive group up front didn’t get as much glory on the stat sheet as his previously mentioned teammates. But it was a rare sight that Norman was able to successfully run up the middle and that all started with Kornada and his powerful work in the trenches. The stocky senior forced plays outside, while also using good hands to slip off blockers and record a few tackles of his own.
