This is the first of a new series at Prep Redzone Pennsylvania where I will break down a game each week that I personally attend. Now with football back amidst little to no COVID restrictions, it’s time to get my boots on the ground and see prospects live in action.
As opposed to traditional game reporting, I will break down this star-studded game by each side of the ball, highlighting prospects who produced or excelled in their roles.

Imhotep Charter 8 @ LaSalle College HS 13

Incredible job by everyone involved coordinating a great event at Springfield HS. The venue provided a great football atmosphere as well as great pre-game and halftime performances. This was a brutal, hard-hitting game that would inevitably be won in the trenches. Tons of talent in said trenches on both sides of the ball.
LaSalle Defense

Chris Thompson | 6’3, 225 | LB | 2022

Delano Jackson III | DB | 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="27556" first="Abdul" last="Carter"] was the most dominant player on the field Saturday afternoon. His gap vision and burst upfield are parallel with the best linebacking prospects in Pennsylvania. His build is filled out. He’s got thump behind his pads and made even some of the best athletes on Imhotep feel his presence. His consistent level of play helps senior Chris Thompson play free. He was active and all over the field. The unranked senior showed he can keep up with his assignment downfield, coming up with a crucial pass breakup late in the game that saw Thompson run stride for stride with [player_tooltip player_id="27553" first="Enai" last="White"]. I was impressed! [player_tooltip player_id="140975" first="Darold" last="Dengohe"] was a menace inside. Great initial punch, great power behind said initial punch. Has a good ability to stay low in his stance off-the-ball. Provides LaSalle with athleticism along the defensive line, as well as some alignment versatility, where he can provide some pass-rush as an EDGE rusher as well. Recruitment NEEDS to heat up for this kid. Imhotep doesn’t offer much of a passing attack, so a quiet day out of the LSCHS secondary was to be expected. I have been enamoured with [player_tooltip player_id="140885" first="Amir" last="Anderson"]’s start to the season. This game was much of the same. Consistent, focused, disciplined despite a lack of targets headed his way. He is on his way to a rankings boost. As for Delano Jackson III, he’s a new name that I had the pleasure of watching. Again, the passing attack was lacklustre, where #29 showed his worth was in run support. He displayed awesome edge-setting ability and discipline. He also wasn’t afraid to kiss the football and bring down ball carriers in the open field. His play outside was crucial in the second half. He’s on my radar.
Imhotep Offense

[player_tooltip player_id="27730" first="Rahmir" last="Stewart"] | ATH | 2023

[player_tooltip player_id="27622" first="Will" last="Robinson"] | 5’9, 190 | RB| 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="143199" first="Jabree" last="Wallace-Coleman"] | 6’1, 190 | RB | 2025

Offensive Line

The Imhotep offensive game plan is more or less the same each time you watch. The success they have seen comes in large part due to their terrific stable of athletes churning yards behind an elite offensive line group. Stinette and Graham each had their hands full in this one. Each ranked lineman prospect won their share of reps against Dengohe and company, often helping the backs rip off runs of 8+ a clip. The talent in this backfield is impressive, would love to see what some semblance of a passing attack could do for opposing gap integrity. There are seasoned upper-classmen in this group, as well as fresh legs ready to take the reigns. Jabree Wallace has been on my radar for some time, I didn’t know he intended on attending Imhotep so you could imagine my surprise as I saw him taking carries away from some of the best backs in Philly. Robinson and McLeod can give you a combination of burst and power. Having these four at your disposal isn’t fair. The offense held a one-point lead for a large part of the game. This playstyle isn’t suitable for catchup, which is the exact situation ’Tep found itself in down 13-8 late in the fourth. Starting quarterback Mikal Davis was subbed out in exchange for a wild-cat-based offense with Rahmir at the helm. The predictability of the offense made a late score an uphill battle that Imhotep couldn’t conquer.

[player_tooltip player_id="27571" first="Maurice" last="Beverly"] | 6’0, 215 | ATH | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="27621" first="Rashaan" last="Wright"] | 5’10, 170 | DB | 2022

The offer-filled Imhotep defense was up for the challenge of limiting stud D1 back [player_tooltip player_id="27560" first="Samuel" last="Brown"]. Brown got his, but it was hard-fought. In a game that saw [player_tooltip player_id="27556" first="Abdul" last="Carter"] dominate, [player_tooltip player_id="27553" first="Enai" last="White"] was arguably just as dominant. The number one recruit in PA forced LaSalle’s hand in abandoning the passing attack and/or running away from his side. The usual speed around the edge combined with incredible size was often too much for opposing LS tackles to hand. [player_tooltip player_id="27571" first="Maurice" last="Beverly"] was a pleasure to watch on both sides of the ball as well as special teams. From what I could tell, he logged some RB reps, FB reps, kicking kick-offs, returning kick-offs, and of course, linebacking reps. Huge effort by Beverly. [player_tooltip player_id="27621" first="Rashaan" last="Wright"] came up huge in the first half with a tough interception of Paturzo that stalled a great opening drive. Whittington and Johnson, among others, did their part in making every yard earned by LaSalle. A gaffe in the secondary is ultimately what put LaSalle ahead, who were already knocking on the door to take the lead. Tough way to give up a score in such a battle.

LaSalle CHS Offense

Lukas Donahue | 6’3, 265 | OL/DL | 2024

Luke Shissler | 6’1, 225 | OL | 2022

Ryan Carr | 6’4, 275 | OL | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="27560" first="Samuel" last="Brown"] | 6’3, 200 | RB/ATH | 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="140862" first="Ryan" last="Moore"] | ATH | 2022

Stevie Davis | 5’6, 170 | RB/ATH | 2024

Have to first give credit to this offensive line for the arduous performance. [player_tooltip player_id="27553" first="Enai" last="White"] is the best player in all of PA, he is going to get his. Either way, play in and play out, tackles Luke Shissler and Ryan Carr stepped up to the plate and did what they could to limit the SEC-offered defense. Pass protection was shaky across the board, can’t say the same when speaking about the excellent run blocking put on display by the LS offensive line. Great use of leverage from the interior lineman, combined with an excellent offensive scheme allowed Brown and Davis to churn yards all game long. Brown is capable of aligning at wideout, Davis was excellent in relief of the D1 recruit. I had my eye on Davis after his week one performance. His late-game surge is was propelled this team to a [player_tooltip player_id="140862" first="Ryan" last="Moore"] touchdown in the fourth that would ultimately seal Imhotep’s fate. Brown is a dog, that’s an understatement. I was pleased to see [player_tooltip player_id="140862" first="Ryan" last="Moore"] produce at WO and as a wildcat quarterback. He’s a player who I thought deserved a ranking based on his offseason growth alone. I will continue to have my eye on all of these players.
