Most notably, after going 3-5 last season, Rochester Adams has seemingly come out of nowhere standing 4-0 with wins against excellent teams. Let’s take a look at the current OAA White standings, and review the season thus far.
Standings
(4-0) Rochester Adams: I’d be shocked if Adams doesn’t hold on to win the division, and I expect them to make a very deep playoff run. With a marquee win against powerhouse West Bloomfield, Adams is looking incredibly strong heading into the second half of the season. ’23 QB Parker Picot has been leading the charge for the Highlanders, and this team is riding high close to the mid-point of the season.
(3-1) North Farmington: Looking improved from a great 2020, North Farmington is off to a great start with a tough schedule ahead of them. Their best win so far is against Lake Orion, and they have a 6-point loss against Oak Park. ’22 ATH Jasper Beeler Jasper Beeler 6'0" | 165 lbs | DB North Farmington | 2022 MI has been incredible, being a versatile weapon in both the run and pass game. It’s going to be very interesting to see how NF does against teams like Adams and West Bloomfield later this season.
(2-2) Rochester: For the first season being brought up from the OAA Blue, Rochester is holding their own. They have a dominant win against Seaholm, and a 7-point loss against Stoney Creek under their belt. I fully expect Rochester to remain in the middle of the pack on the OAA White. ’23 QB Alex Bueno has been dominating the same way he did last year in the Blue.
(1-3) Oak Park: Similarly to last year, Oak Park is off to a poor start. Though this is an incredibly interesting team, housing great talent coming off of a semifinal 2020 playoff run despite a winless regular season. If they want it bad enough, they can compete against any team in the state. Oak Park is led by ’22 Charles Gillespie Charles Gillespie 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Oak Park | 2022 MI and ’22 Glen Cross. Team cohesion is going to be a big factor moving forward.
(1-3) Groves: I really don’t know what to make of Groves this season. They’ve lost lots of talent, in addition to a brutal end to the 2020 season by way of scandal. Nevertheless, they have talent headlined by ’22 WR Jaden Mangham Jaden Mangham 6'3" | 185 lbs | ATH Birmingham Groves | 2022 State MI , a likely future MSU Spartan. Their one win was a close one against crosstown rival Seaholm, and they’ve got a tough schedule ahead of them.
(0-4) Seaholm: Although very young, Seaholm has been disappointing and they’ve got some brutal matchups ahead. Especially after a heartbreaking loss against Groves, I can’t imagine the Maple locker room being in high spirits. My hope for Seaholm is that they retain a winning, selfless culture, with great student leaders. It would be disappointing to see Seaholm on a steady decline, and I know more than anyone, the key is culture. The future of the program lies in Graden and Colton Kinnie, along with Sean Emmerson, and John Jokisch. They all have great work ethic and talent, though the way they lead on and off the football field will dictate Seaholm’s future.
