Week 1 is in the books in the state of Arkansas. Starting on Thursday night, we had some players that tore up it on the gridiron and had excellent performances. The state of Arkansas had plenty of impressive performances over the weekend and we are going to highlight a number of those performances in this article.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75143" first="Josh" last="Ficklin"]-Running Back-Bentonville-2023</strong>
Ficklin continued his hot start this weekend against Conway. Ficklin was terrific on Friday. He rushed for 177 yards and 2 touchdowns on 29 carries. Ficklin tacked on one reception for 61 yards and a touchdown receiving. Ficklin is off to a solid start for the Bentonville Tigers, and he has the potential to continue posting big numbers every Friday night.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="153619" first="Braden" last="Jones"]-Linebacker-Bentonville West-2023</strong>
The Bentonville West linebacker was all over the field on Friday night for the 61 Wolverines. Jones 19 tackles, four tackles for loss, and one touchdown on Friday night. Jones was terrific in a close game against Muskogee. He is setting the stage for a strong 2021 football season.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="135229" first="Weston" last="Pierce"]-Quarterback-Maumelle-2023</strong>
[player_tooltip player_id="135229" first="Weston" last="Pierce"] was extremely impressive for Maumelle on Friday night. The Maumelle signal caller was 10/20 for 273 yards and five touchdowns. Pierce is off to a great start for the season, and he is a player to watch out for this season. Look for Pierce to continue to produce solid numbers.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="181497" first="Preston" last="Davis"]-Linebacker-Little Rock Christian-2024</strong>
The Little Rock Christian linebacker racked up 15 tackles against Searcy this week. Davis is extremely quick and uses his instincts well to be in on every tackle. Davis is setting the stage for a monster 2021 season, and he will be a player to watch over the next few seasons. Davis has the potential to continue his solid play.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75099" first="Parker" last="Perry"]-Wide Receiver-Little Rock Parkview-2022</strong>
We know before the season that [player_tooltip player_id="75099" first="Parker" last="Perry"] had the talent to explode this season for the Parkview Patriots. Perry is a red zone target for the Patriots and has the potential to be a nightmare matchup for cornerbacks this season. Perry was on the receiving of three receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns on Friday night. Look out for Parkview this season, it is a loaded football team.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75081" first="Austin" last="Myers"]-Quarterback-Vilonia-2022</strong>
The Vilonia quarterback was making all the throws on Friday night Greene County Tech. Myers was 19-23 for 297 yards and four touchdown passes. Myers is looking great this season in after an injury shortened 2020 season. Vilonia is an extremely dangerous football team with Myers being as accurate as he was on Friday night.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75066" first="Isaiah" last="Sategna"]-Wide Receiver-Fayetteville-2022</strong>
The Fayetteville wide receiver put on an impressive showing against the number one team in Oklahoma. Sategna had nine receptions for 240 receiving yards and two touchdowns. It is shaping up that the Oregon Ducks got a steal with Sategna. He has excellent speed and just a knack for getting open. He is off to an excellent start.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="179317" first="Jabri" last="Artis"]-Linebacker-Malvern-2022</strong>
The Malvern linebacker was all over the field on Friday night. Artis racked up 7 tackles, two pass break ups, and scored a touchdown. Artis is always around the football, so it comes as no surprise that he played well on Friday night. Keep an eye on Artis the rest of the year.
<strong>[player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"]-Quarterback-Fayetteville-2022</strong>
Fike is off to a torrid start this season. On Friday night, Fike accounted for 449 all-purpose yards and three passing touchdowns. Fike and the Bulldogs fell to Owasso in what was a terrific football game. The Bulldogs are going to be a dangerous team this season. The passing game is clicking on all cylinders to start the year.
