How the Rogers Mounties have mange to slip under the radar up to now is anyone’s guess. The Mounties have an explosive offense and a scrappy defense that will be put to the test this week against Fayetteville. The Mounties come in with a 4-0 record on the season. Both teams are undefeated in conference, so something will have to give this Friday night.
Looking first at the visiting Rogers Mounties. The Mounties have an offense that does not have shortage of guys that can spark a big play. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="170739" first="Noah" last="Goodshield"] can hurt you with both his arms and his legs. Goodshield is not afraid to get out of the pocket and pick up extra yardage. What causes opposing defensive coordinators even more headaches are that the Mounties have talented receiving threats such as [player_tooltip player_id="137141" first="Joel" last="Garner"] and Kade Seldomridge. Both Seldomridge and Garner have a talent for getting open. However, do not underestimate the rushing attack that Rogers has put together with Joshua Shepherd showing plenty of ability to take it the distance.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Mounties will need to find a way to contain one of the state’s best passing attacks. [player_tooltip player_id="117769" first="Marion" last="Slater"] is a linebacker that can live in the offensive backfield if the offensive line does not account for him. Defensive end [player_tooltip player_id="135257" first="Brady" last="Porter"] is a player that creates problems for opposing offensive lines because of his quickness. The Mounties will have to get to [player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"] because he has proven to be a quarterback that can complete the pass on the run.
Shift our attention now to the Fayetteville Bulldogs. Fayetteville is 2-2 on the season with an undefeated record in conference play. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="75105" first="Bladen" last="Fike"] is having a tremendous season this season. He has plenty of weapons at his disposal including [player_tooltip player_id="156890" first="Dylan" last="Kittell"], [player_tooltip player_id="75066" first="Isaiah" last="Sategna"], and [player_tooltip player_id="94925" first="Jalen" last="Blackburn"]. The Fayetteville passing game is one of the state’s most productive. Meanwhile, running back [player_tooltip player_id="183595" first="Omar" last="Murray"] had a great game last week and appears to be hitting his stride this season.
One the defensive side of the ball, the Bulldogs have plenty of talent. Linebackers [player_tooltip player_id="181538" first="Mani" last="Powell"], [player_tooltip player_id="120372" first="Cade" last="Fields"], and [player_tooltip player_id="75075" first="Kaiden" last="Turner"] all have the talent to take over a game. [player_tooltip player_id="127245" first="Ryan" last="Maxwell"] and [player_tooltip player_id="143705" first="Braelon" last="Palmer"] lurk in the secondary and can be extremely disruptive in the passing game. The Fayetteville defense has the potential to take over any contest that they are involved. The bottom line is this game has the possibility of being a high scoring affair and one of the best matchups in the state of Arkansas this Friday night!
