A rematch of a playoff matchup will take place this Friday night in Springdale. Fort Smith Northside will make the trip up I-49 to take on the Har-Ber Wildcats. Northside is a team that is on a roll and will be looking to continue to build momentum this week. Meanwhile, the Wildcats are looking to right the ship after two straight tough losses.
The Northside rushing attack was impressive against the Greenwood Bulldogs last Friday. The Grizzlies rushing attack led by Sundquist Church and [player_tooltip player_id="180296" first="Ty" last="Massey"] helped keep the potent Greenwood offense off the field. Massey rushed for 149 yards three touchdowns off of 22 carries and Church rushed for 20 times for 140 yards. The Grizzlies did an impressive job of mixing the run with the pass. [player_tooltip player_id="75122" first="Walker" last="Catsavis"] makes it tough with his mobility to stay with the wide receivers. The opposing defense must be disciplined to cover the Northside wide receivers, while paying attention to the Grizzlies rushing attack.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies defense did its part in helping to force the Greenwood offense off of the field last Friday. Northside’s defense forced four turnovers last week and will be looking to force some turnovers against the Har-Ber Wildcats. The Wildcats do a good job of mixing the run with the pass and it will be important for the defense to force some turnovers to win the game. Look for defensive Jett Frazier to step up this week and attempt to shutdown the Har-Ber passing game.
As for the Har-Ber Wildcats, Har-Ber thrives on a rushing attack and this game will not be any different. The Har-Ber-Northside matchup has the potential to be a good old-fashioned ground and pound football game. Getting [player_tooltip player_id="91974" first="Hudson" last="Brewer"] going on the ground will be key to the Wildcats being able to open the passing game. Brewer is a strong runner that has the speed to leave defenders behind at the second level. Quarterback Luke Buchanan is a quarterback that is not afraid use his legs to pick up first downs. Meanwhile, [player_tooltip player_id="134659" first="Peyton" last="McKee"] is a wide receiver that can stretch the field vertically for the Wildcats.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Wildcats must find a way to limit the damage that Northside can cause with the ground attack. Look for linebacker Ross Haney and safety [player_tooltip player_id="92901" first="Malachi" last="Cramer"] to move up to stop the ground attack. Finding a way to contain the ground attack will be key this week in winning the football.
Look for this game to go into the fourth quarter. The Grizzlies and the Wildcats should be an extremely interesting contest. Northside has the edge in momentum, but it will be difficult to beat Har-Ber in Springdale. Look for the Grizzlies to pull out a close win this week.
