The contest between the Greenwood Bulldogs and Fort Smith Northside is going to be one to watch on Friday night. Both teams come into this game undefeated and looking to continue to trend. The Greenwood offense, as always, is picking up right where they left off from last season. Fort Smith Northside has played extremely well on both sides of the ball and have a dynamic offense to go along with a great defense.
Looking first, at the Greenwood Bulldogs’ offense. Greenwood quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="160308" first="Hunter" last="Houston"] has been clicking on all cylinders to start the season. The Bulldogs needed the offense to click last week. Greenwood defeated Fort Smith Southside last week 54-48, in what was one of the closer contests between the two rivals over the years. The Bulldogs’ offense was balanced, with the rushing attack accounting for 357 yards and the passing game accounting for 348 yards of offense last Friday night.
The Bulldogs do a great job of using the solid running backs and wide receivers that they have at their disposal. Luke Brewer, Davon Williamson, and Dylan Tucker have all done a great job of running as well as receiving the football. Brewer was explosive all of Friday night last week accounting for 200 yards receiving and three touchdowns. Greenwood will have plenty of weapons to contend against the Grizzlies of Northside.
Meanwhile, Northside is a team that may have gone a bit under the radar to start the season. The Grizzlies have a three headed monster in the backfield that the Greenwood defense will have to contend with this Friday night. Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id="75122" first="Walker" last="Catsavis"] is one of the most versatile players in the state at the quarterback position. He throws with good accuracy and can run the ball effectively. Against Fort Smith Southside, Catsavis racked up 67 yards rushing and one touchdown as well as passing for 96 yards on 7-8 passing. [player_tooltip player_id="180296" first="Ty" last="Massey"] rushed 21 for 134 yards and one touchdown on the ground and Sundquist Church added to the rushing total with 137 yards on 22 rushes and he tacked on touchdown as well.
To contend with the Greenwood Bulldogs the opposing defense has got to find a way to get them off of the field. Northside will have to shorten the game and limit the possessions for the Greenwood Bulldogs’ offense. This is a contest that has the potential to be one of the better games on Friday night. As always get out to one of the games in your area, throughout our great state and enjoy the weekend!
