The Vikings will look to make it two in a row again this Thursday against South Miami. The Cobras are 1-1 after posting a 37-0 shoutout against Coral Gables.
*UPDATE* Carol City’s game against Vanguard is reportedly cancelled.
Here are some prospects to watch the rest of the season after coming out with a win in the Mayor’s Cup.
Lavonte Jenkins – Running back
The 5-foot-8, 170-pound back ran for 150 yards and two touchdowns against Carol City. Jenkins is a tough back for his size and has good vision in the second level. What I like about him is he’s not afraid to run through defenders. Jenkins found some nice holes up the middle against Carol City. Click here to view his hudl.
Joaquin Reid – Wide receiver
2024 Joaquin Reid is a threat with the football in his hands. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound wide out caught 3 passes for 110 yards and one touchdown against the Chiefs. That is almost 37 yards per reception! Reid’s ability after the catch is impressive and could flip a scoreboard in a matter of moments. He is one of many talented threats on the outside for Miami Norland (see below). In the classroom, Reid holds a 3.11 GPA.
Morris Thomas – Linebacker
Thomas was in the backfield all-night against Carol City. The 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker recorded nine tackles and four sacks. Thomas was a terror off the edge and looked quick. In some cases, he was barely touched coming off the line. An impressive defensive performance from this kid. Click here to view his hudl.
Isaiah Scott – Wide receiver
Line 2024 Isaiah Scott anywhere on offense or defense and watch him go. The 5-foot-9 wide receiver/defensive back already holds an offer from Ole Miss. Scott is a threat in the slot to take it to the house after any catch. A defender is in trouble right off the line against this kid. After that, his game-breaking speed and elusiveness in the open field is tough to contain. But wait, there’s more. Scott is also a playmaker on defense. Against Carol City, Scott picked off a pass and recorded four tackles. You can see why a team like the Rebels would want him. Expect more college attention to come Scott’s way the rest of the season.
