Here are the top offensive performers from the game:
Preston Stokes – Calera QB (Class of 2023)
Stokes had a tremendous performance against Pell City. He completed 12 of 15 passes for 311 yards and 6 touchdowns. He showed good accuracy in the pocket and got the ball to his playmakers in space. I was impressed with his mobility as he added 6 carries for 58 yards. He also extended plays with feet on several occasions to make throws down the field. He was nominated for 6A Player of the Week.
Kobe Prentice – Calera WR (Class of 2022)
The Alabama commit had a huge night for the Eagles. Prentice recorded 8 receptions for 184 yards and 4 touchdowns. His elite-level speed and explosiveness were on display all night. Prentice is so difficult to tackle in space and his speed allows him to separate from defenders with ease. Along with Stokes, Prentice was also nominated for 6A Players of the Week honors.
Braylyn Farrington – Calera WR (Class of 2023)
Farrington is another playmaking receiver for Calera that had a productive night. He recorded 3 receptions for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. That included a slant pass that Farrington took 68 yards to the endzone on the second play from scrimmage. That play set the tone for the Eagles on a night where they would score a season-high 56 points. I mentioned before the game that the Calera offense was really hitting their stride. Behind Stokes, Prentice, and Farrington, this offense will be extremely productive in the second half of the season.
Colin Smith – Pell City WR (Class of 2023)
For Pell City, Colin Smith had a strong game in a losing effort against Calera. Smith had 8 receptions for 196 yards and a touchdown. He also added 3 carries for 16 yards. I was impressed with his ability to make contested catches and he was a large reason this game was close in the early going. He has been a big-play threat this year for the Panthers as one of the main go-to guys in the offense. Smith plays both ways for Pell City and he is a player to watch in the class of 2023.
