The Lakers dominated the game and kept their perfect season intact for another week with a 41-7 win. With nearly fifty points scored between the two teams, there were plenty of performances worthy of highlighting. Here are a few players who stood out on that side of the ball.
Cam Holter Southwest WR
Holter made his presence felt early with a contested catch on the sidelines with one-on-one coverage for 40 yards. He used his height to outjump the corner. The senior used nice footwork on a bubble screen to make a man miss and then hurdled a second guy for nine yards. He showed how physical he could be with a great block on a bubble screen sprung fellow wide receiver, Charlie Boucher Charlie Boucher 6'3" | 230 lbs | TE MPLS Southwest | 2022 State MN for a big gain. In the more conventional role of a wide receiver, he caught a 23-yard touchdown on a fade pattern. Finally, on a 4th and 12, he caught a crossing route that not only picked up a first down but went for a 31-yard touchdown.
Sam Benick Sam Benick 6'4" | 240 lbs | OL Southwest | 2022 MN , Logan Gunaca, Ben Kattreh-Kuritz, Salman Fiqi, Brayden Engrav Brayden Engrav 6'3" | 280 lbs | OL MPLS Southwest | 2022 State MN Southwest OL
The offensive line did a great job in pass protection. I don’t’ think this group gave up a sack or even many quarterback pressures. The Lakers found success early behind Engrav. Benick made a nice block on the outside to spring a running back. Late in the first half, Engrav and Fiqi were really moving people for running back Declan Maida.
Declan Maida Southwest RB
Maida converted a short touchdown run up the middle behind Kattreh-Kuritz. Maida’s best run was a run up the middle. When he got to the second level, he cut to the outside and then broke a couple of tackles inside the ten-yard line to complete a 36-yard touchdown run.
Preston Engen Preston Engen 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB MPLS Southwest | 2022 State MN Southwest QB
Engen was the primary beneficiary of the offensive line’s performance. Engen was very accurate on short and intermediate throws. He made good decisions and moved in the pocket very well. The senior showed excellent arm strength on the early throw to Holter and then on his best throw of the night. He threw a ball on a rope to complete a deep out.
Tay’jahn Webster Washburn RB
Webster did a little bit of everything for the Millers. As a wildcat quarterback, Webster took a bad snap and made three guys miss in the backfield. The play still should have resulted in a loss, but he powered his way for five more yards as the defense wrapped him up. On another busted play, he used quick feet and his athletic ability to pick up twenty yards. Then, he caught a deep post pattern for 40 yards.

Jack Garcia-Grafing Washburn RB – nice cutback run
Charlie Boucher Charlie Boucher 6'3" | 230 lbs | TE MPLS Southwest | 2022 State MN Southwest WR – spoiler alert, look for Boucher in the defensive standout story. On the offensive side, he caught a bubble screen, used his blockers, and picked up 24 yards.
