High school football in the Garden State is loaded with talent. Oftentimes, the most talented players are overlooked simply because no one knows who they are. It’s time we shed some light on those players who need more recognition. These young talented athletes are hidden gems who will be a great addition to many college programs. With that being said, let’s take a look at the 2022 prospects who deserve to play at the next but currently do not have any offers. Sr, RB James Cook Jr Belleville High School 5’10 195 Mr. Cook flashed serious ability to be a starting running back at the next level. He is averaging 124 yards a game and holds 4 touchdowns so far this season. Cook showed he can be a consistent back who doesn’t mind carrying most of the load for his team. Cook is a physical runner who is difficult to bring down. Also, Cook has the speed to create separation once he gets passed the second level. Cook has great vision and runs well behind his pads. If Cook continues to perform at a high level he will definitely receive an offer sooner than later. Sr, OL Dante Hall- Johnson Ewing High School 6’3” 270 Mr. Hall- Johnson is doing a great job this season protecting his quarterback’s blind side. Hall- Johnson did well slowing down fast edge rushers from disrupting their offense. Hall- Johnson is a massive blocker who has quick feet and good hand placement. He has a very high IQ, easily recognizing stunts by the defense. Hall-Johnson will be a great addition to many college programs who are in need of offensive linemen. Sr, RB Nasean Hill Delbarton High School 5’10” 190 Mr. Hill is a dynamic playmaker at Delbarton. Hill is averaging 4.6 yards a carry and 2 touchdowns. Hill is a versatile athlete, he can do many things well. He can catch the ball out the backfield as well as being a hard nosed runner for tough yardage. Hill does a good job running behind his pads with nice knee bend. Also, keeps his feet moving after contact. Hill is a natural runner with great instincts. Many college programs would love to have this kid on their team. Sr, CB Navon Barrett Trenton Central High School 6’1” 176 Mr. Barrett is a playmaker. He has 16 tackles and 2 interceptions so far this season. Barrett is a dynamic athlete with great ball skills and tackling ability. He does a great job limiting the opponents best receiver. Barrett recognizes routes making it much easier for him to make a play on the ball. Barrett is a real competitor and shows good technique. Many college coaches should take a look at this kid for their program. Sr, WR Ashton Navarrete Hawthorne High School 5’10” 175 Mr. Navarrete is an all- around athlete. He is a solid receiver that runs precise routes and has sure hands. Navarrete is one of the best passers in the state of New Jersey. He will catch every pass thrown his way even if it is difficult to catch. Navarrete is also a great run blocker as well and never takes a play off. Navarrete is a kid you need on your program. He is very coachable and hard working. Expect him to continue t dominate as the season goes on.
